Hello MrLinkinPark333,

WikiProject Orphanage is holding a month long Backlog Elimination Drive to de-orphan articles which have orphan tags!
The goal is to eliminate the backlog of orphan articles. There are currently 130115 articles which have orphan tags. The drive is running from April 12, 2014 to May 12, 2014.

Awards will be given out for all editors participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive. To add your name in the participants list click here.
So start de-orphaning articles! Click here to see the list of articles need de-orphaning. Visit Suggestions for how to de-orphan an article to know more!

May 2014 disambig contest: let's do it again![edit]

Greetings fellow disambiguator! Remember back in February when we made history by clearing the board for the first time ever, for the monthly disambiguation contest? Let's do it again in May! I personally will be aiming to lead the board next month, but for anyone who thinks they can put in a better effort, I will give a $10 Amazon gift card to any editor who scores more disambiguation points in May. Also, I will be setting up a one-day contest later in the month, and will try to set up more prizes and other ways to make this a fun and productive month. Cheers! bd2412 T 18:49, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Film categories[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your recent edit on this article. Please note that all films have three primary categories (Year, Country and Language) per WP:FILMCAT. So the category Category:Argentine films should not be removed, even though there is a category for Argentine drama films. The latter is a sub-cat of Argentine films by genre, and not films by country. Also each country category has the following text: "For convenience, all Argentine films are included in this category. This includes all Argentine films that can also be found in the subcategories." If you have any further questions, please visit the Film Project. Thanks. Orphaned non-free image File:ArtofMurderFBIConfidential.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:ArtofMurderFBIConfidential.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:57, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:ArtofMurderFBIConfidential.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ArtofMurderFBIConfidential.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:57, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

Links to disambiguation pages[edit]

Thank you for fixing templates with links to disambiguation pages. I noticed that you have added the template "disambiguation needed" a lot of times. TWL HighBeam check-in[edit]

Hello Wikipedia Library Users,

You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:

  • Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
  • Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

deOrphaning script[edit]

Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.

What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Opted-out of message delivery to your user talk page.

Your edit on 20:20 (Ryan Adams album)[edit]

Hi - I noticed you edited the info box on the Ryan Adams box-set 20:20 from reading 'Unreleased box-set' to just 'Box set'. As it is unreleased I think the status is valid, but I don't want to just revert the change without talking to you first. Would appreciate your reasoning if you have a moment. Many thanks! Dennisthemonkeychild (talk) 11:38, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback, I didn't realise that the parameter would flag up like that. At the moment it seems the infobox has no allowance for unreleased albums so leaving as is probably works best. I think it's better than classifying it as 'other' in any case. Either that or it just shouldn't have the infobox at all?Dennisthemonkeychild (talk) 09:02, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey there! I know there is some kind of problem for the pages of Dave Farrell and Rob Bourdon, and I would also like to help you in that case. Your Newspapers.com free account[edit]

In your response to the google form in the signup email you mentioned that you've had a free account since June 2014. It's possible to sign up for a "free account" that doesn't give you access to much or any content. The free account is just what you get when you register, and you only get full access to content when it gets activated by Newspapers.com staff in response to a request from the Wikipedia Library account coordinator (ie me). Would you check and see if that's what you have please? Just try a search and see if it shows you the actual newspaper results or instead asks you to upgrade to a paid subscription (but don't pay anything if it does!) Thanks HazelAB (talk) 14:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Unfilled reqs[edit]

Hey, a suggestion re: filling unfilled reqs at WP:RX—some of the older ones (older than a year) might not even be wanted anymore, so it's worth talk page messaging the requester before digging those threads back up (some users won't be active anymore or might have otherwise lost interest in the article). czar 00:29, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

@Czar: - Regarding the old requests, I email the user regarding the request and ask if they want the articles. Some of them I've received a reply, while others I have not. A few of the requesters were grateful that i found the resource (and even forgot about the request) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:35, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Sounds good. Just thought it would be worth mentioning before resuscitating from the page's archives czar
@Czar: True. Most of the ones I revived I got a response from. I've also revived other requests but I've haven't received a message for those users. So I'll probably not move them unless i get a reply. Did you also see my question about the archive bot? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:47, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, MrLinkinPark. As an active member of WP:SWIMMING, I've been watching the slow progress of adding the new Category:Olympic gold medalists for the United States in swimming. I just noticed that you are including synchronized swimmers in the same new category as competitive swimmers. Ocarina of Time and username question[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if you could either restore the following link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tristam/sandbox or look at its history and transcribe the page before it was deleted unto a pastebin for me. The user who nominated it for deletion claims it was a copy of the Ocarina of Time page but it wasn't. It had more extensive details and quotations from an interview that I'd never seen before. (I know it wasn't made up by the user because its content is referred to in the first question of this interview: http://web.archive.org/web/20040623040945/http://www.miyamotoshrine.com/theman/interviews/042399.shtml) I reiterate, the info isn't available elsewhere that I know of. Another thing. Is it possible to check who signed up with a particular name via an IP? I may or may not have created this while at my old job, but if I did then I didn't sign it up with an email since I can't recover a password. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Allytogood If you have to check for an IP, I can get someone from my job to post but I'm going to assume they use static IPs (being a telecom company). It's not a big deal, but if I could I'd like to have a uniform moniker on all sites. I'm sure you understand. Ally2good (talk) 20:27, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

@Northamerica1000: This message was meant for you, since I was the one who nominated it, not deleted it. Could this message to your talkpage since it was meant for you, and not me? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:06, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm not sure what that means, but go for it. Ally2good (talk) 16:31, 22 February 2016 (UTC) Edit: I looked it up. Please do so. Ally2good (talk) 16:33, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

MRB constant COI tag progress[edit]

Helo. in the talk page, I made some initial comments concerning the tag. I hope it all works out (as I said there) for the all around advancement of encyclopedic knowledge of this subject. Marvin Ray Burns (talk) 03:30, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Beth Sotelo[edit]

Speedy deletion declined: User:Allanafuah/AllanAfuah[edit]

Hello MrLinkinPark333. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Allanafuah/AllanAfuah, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: I don't see how this is promotional. It's evidently a test page, and long unused, but nothing would be gained by deleting it. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 15:12, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

...and the same goes for User:Amused reader/Amused Reader. That self-description would be perfectly acceptable as a user page, and is doing no harm. Generally, people's stale user pages should be left alone unless there is some actual problem: even then, replacing with {{Inactive userpage blanked}} is usually enough, and is less WP:BITEy if the user should one day return. Deletion does not save space, because deleted pages are retained in the database. JohnCD (talk) 15:20, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

BibISBN templates[edit]

Hi, thanks for asking about these. They would have been copied from German Wikipedia to support translated articles. As they aren't linked any more I suspect editors have replaced the templates at the articles concerned. So I have no problem if they nominated for deletion. --Bermicourt (talk) 19:52, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Okay. However, I've seen some usage of the template (even if it doesn't work) here:. Should i remove the usage of the BibIbsn? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:01, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
Hmm, I checked those links. I can see what the template is trying to do. Basically you create a Template for a commonly used book using its ISBN e.g. Template:BibISBN/0801857899 and fill in the parameters. The main BibISBN template is used with just the ISBN to call the individual book and display it in the standard reference/bibliography style. On German Wiki there are around 2,500 books in the template library. The problem is that I am not expert enough to get Template:BibISBN to function properly; not helped by the fact that the German version is now more complicated. So I guess there are 2 questions: first, is the idea useful enough to get some (ideally German-speaking) template experts to make it work? Second, is it then also a useful translator's tool which saves the hassle of repeatedly copying out the references? Personally, I'm content to just cut and paste the displayed text when I translate articles in future, so I'm not fussed if they're deleted. --Bermicourt (talk) 20:02, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Josh Mosqueira[edit]

Can you find anything for Josh Mosqueira so that the article could be restored? BOZ (talk) 02:38, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
