Two-year-old Stx touted the expansion of its overseas footprint as marking its strategic push into self-distribution of its content. The hiring of Kosse re-teams him with Stx Chairman Adam Fogelson as both were top executives at Univesral for many years.

He will be reporting to Stx Chief Operating Officer Thomas McGrath and overseeing international strategy for the marketing and direct theatrical and multi-platform distribution of Stx films worldwide.

Initial plans call for launching direct distribution in the UK and Ireland in 2017. John Friedberg, president of international sales, will report to Kosse from Stx’s Burbank headquarters. The international group has already put in place 50 output agreements covering the global market. »

Jennifer Aniston Leads An All-Star Cast In New Trailer For Garry Marshall’s Mother’s Day

30 March 2016 11:28 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Having already checked off Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve in his list of cinematic festivities, director Garry Marshall is poised to return behind the lens later this year for Mother’s Day.

Cut from the same cloth as the filmmaker’s previous ensemble comedies, it is Jennifer Aniston that leads an all-star cast in today’s new footage in what is being billed as, ahem, the “mother of all comedies.”

Featuring a screenplay by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander, Mother’s Day chronicles a series of overlapping stories across three generations. Aniston’s single mother and recent divorcée Sandy in many ways anchors the story – a new clip below kicks off Sandy’s Mother’s Day in somewhat unusual fashion – whereas Hudson’s workaholic mom goes through Hell and high water to do the unthinkable – stage a bonding session with her mother.

Jenny’s SXSW 2016 Diary: Day 4

15 March 2016 4:55 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

My day started with me balancing emails and waiting at the InterContinental for my first interview of the day: American Fable. I spoke to the director for a podcast I am also working for during SXSW, One of Us, and it went really well. It always feels good to be the first interviewer because you know you’ll be on time and you’ll probably also have the chance to run over time and ruin everyone’s schedule for the rest of the day.

As I mentioned yesterday, American Fable is incredible, so talking with Anne Hamilton about her movie was equally special. She had so much to say about her craft, and I cannot wait for people to hear it.

My next interview was for I Am Not a Serial Killer, but luckily for me that wasn’t until 1:00pm. That meant I had about an hour and a half to kill, »

Mother’s Day Movie Releases Poster Ahead Of April 29th Release

10 March 2016 9:23 AM, PST | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Mother’s Day is the latest Garry Marshall holiday vehicle that’s loaded with stars and intersecting characters/plots, and the film has finally released a poster.

This one has a gaggle of stars, just as you’d expect, and centers around two people, but their lives and families make for a wide branching out of the narrative.

We’re obviously centered on mothers and motherhood generally, and we’re going to get a mix of viewpoints. Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis are the hubs from which all things spin, and they give us the middle ground for the multi-generational look at how having, or being, a mother changes everything about the world… sort of.

The general idea may be getting a little overworked, but this one looks fun, and Valentine’s Day, while not great, was hard to hate and full of charm. Plus, the broad casts always mean »

11 Movies & TV Shows We’re Excited to See at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival

9 March 2016 4:48 PM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

It’s hard to believe that another South by Southwest Film Festival is almost upon us, and this year’s lineup is yet another stellar collection of indie films, shorts, documentaries and experiential projects from all over the world. As we prepare to bring our readers extensive coverage over the next week from Austin, here’s a look at the 11 genre-related films and TV shows we’re excited to check out during the festival, which begins on Friday, March 11th.

[Writer’s Note: During Sundance 2016, this writer had the privilege of covering two great genre films: Under the Shadow from Babak Anvari and Mickey Keating’s Carnage Park. Since I had the chance to catch both of these films back in January, I decided it wouldn’t be fair to include them here in my preview piece (however, genre fans attending SXSW should definitely check out both films during the fest, as they are equally incredible).]

In a Valley of Violence (Director/Screenwriter: Ti West)

Festival Synopsis: From Blumhouse, the film tells the story of a drifter named Paul who arrives in a small town, seeking revenge on the thugs who murdered his friend. Sisters Mary Anne and Ellen, who run the town’s hotel, help Paul in his quest for vengeance. Cast: Ethan Hawke, Taissa Farmiga, James Ransone, Karen Gillan, John Travolta (World Premiere)

Welcome to another Thursday filled with trailers. This week we've got movies based on holidays, fairy tales and the familiar idea of government agents confused about the past.    Mother's Day The new holiday-themed ensemble comedy from Garry Marshall (Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve) sells itself pretty easily: if you have or ever had a mom, then Mother's Day is for you. Sure, it will mostly appeal to mothers themselves, including "mr. moms" like a character played by Jason Sudeikis, but it looks like most audiences can relate in some way. The movie also stars Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, Britt Robertson and Margo Martindale and hits theaters a few weeks ahead of its namesake, on April...

Whimsical Mother’s Day Trailer Sends Jennifer Aniston On A Search For A Significant Other

11 February 2016 2:20 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Not to be confused with Charles Kaufman’s horror-thriller of the same name – nor its forgettable remake from 2010 – Open Road Films has unveiled the first trailer for Garry Marshall’s imminent romantic comedy, Mother’s Day.

Spinning a yarn around the titular holiday in the same vein as the director’s other themed efforts – namely Valentine’s Day and the much-maligned New Year’s Eve – Mother’s Day places a laser focus on the core cast of Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Jason Sudeikis and Julia Roberts, rather than spreading a wafer-thin narrative across a massive ensemble. That said, Marshall’s latest – written by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander – still orbits around a series of overlapping stories set against the holiday occasion.

This time, Aniston’s single mother and recent divorcée Sandy is searching for a significant other; Hudson’s workaholic mom makes it her mission to connect with her »
