drug info @ your library provides up to date information about alcohol and drugs on this website and through local public libraries in New South Wales. drug info @ your library is a joint initiative of NSW Health and the State Library of NSW.

How does drug info @ your library work?

Web resources and public library collections are selected and regularly updated by specialist staff at the State Library of New South Wales in consultation with experts in the field.

There are 100 central libraries in NSW and 268 branch libraries, 230 of these in regional areas. Through this network of public libraries drug info @ your library extends across NSW to make resources available to those in remote areas. By working with public libraries and assisting with community promotion drug info @ your library increases local awareness of drug and alcohol issues.

The collections and website are provided for the community of NSW with a specific focus on parents and carers of young people and secondary and TAFE students.

History

drug info @ your library has been providing accessible drug information to communities through public libraries and the web since 2002.

The aim of drug info @ your library is to build the capacity of the NSW Public Library Network to provide access to quality information on alcohol and drugs. drug info @ your library provides accessible, accurate and credible information to support library staff in satisfying their community's alcohol and drug information needs.

drug info @ your library started in March 2002 as part of the NSW Community Drug Information Strategy. The service was developed in response to the NSW Government's 1999 Drug Summit. Originally known as Di@YLL (Drug Information at your Local Library), in response to focus testing and community feedback, the service was rebranded in 2005 as drug info @ your library.
