Textbooks

Textbooks are expensive, and the library frequently receives requests from faculty and students to purchase them, in lieu of students purchasing their own copies. The problem is that the library can't afford them either! The entire annual book budget is less than half of the cost of a single semester's worth of textbooks for UAF classes, one per class not per student. Besides cost, the fact that every student will need their own copy of a textbook, and that the textbook will likely be outdated in 1-2 years with an updated edition, all play into our policy of not purchasing textbooks.
