Oral History

The Oral History Program was established in 1981 to collect, preserve, and provide access to audio and video recordings that provide insight into Alaska's history and the people who have contributed to its heritage. The UAF Oral History Collection consists of over 11,200 recordings, most of which were donated by organizations and individual interviewers who collected them over the years.

Approximately 52% of the Oral History collection is cataloged in the UAF Library catalog Library Catalog. Items are continually being added. For information on finding oral histories in our catalog, see Finding Oral Histories. Some of our oral histories are on the web at Project Jukebox.

Our office is located on level 2 of Rasmuson Library. Email Robyn Russell at rlrussell@alaska.edu for assistance or more information, or call 907-474-6773.
