Bad Boys 3 Now Called 'Bad Boys For Life,' Release Date Pushed To 2018

6 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Will Smith’s given us plenty of updates on the proposed third Bad Boys movie over the years. The most recent came in February when the actor told BBC Radio that he’d recently met with his co-star Martin Lawrence to bat around the possibility of popping out another adventure for Lowery and Burnett. Apparently, all it took was a hug for them to agree on Bad Boys 3.

Sony Pictures felt even more confident, pencilling in release dates for a third and fourth installment in the franchise on February 17, 2017 and July 3, 2019 respectively.

Sorry to break it to you folks, but it now looks as if we’re not getting Any Bad Boys movies for a while. A Tweet from Exhibitor Relations states that the third film is now slated for a January 12, 2018 release date. This isn’t exactly great news as the beginning of the year is typically where studio dreck goes to die. »

‘Twin Peaks’ Revival: David Lynch Is ‘Deep in Editing’ for Early Half of 2017 Release

6 hours ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Twin Peaks,” even in revival form, continues to be one of the most enigmatic series on TV, whenever it makes it to air.

At the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday, reporters expected to get some news, be it new footage, a release date, hell, even some damn good coffee or pie. Unfortunately, Showtime execs could only give crumbs about the state of production. “You can do a show like ‘Twin Peaks,’ where we don’t even know for sure how many episodes there will be,” Showtime President and CEO David Nevins half-joked, half-announced, as critics sobbed inside. A touted clip reel shown at TCA did not include any actual footage, only actors on set raving about how wonderful the show is.

Newswire: Jennifer Lynch to direct horror flick about a killer Halloween theme park

9 hours ago | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Filmmaker Jennifer Chambers Lynch (Boxing Helena, Chained) appears to have spun a couple of work-for-hire TV episode jobs into a feature horror movie gig. The director, whose father is Twin Peaks creator David Lynch, has helmed just two episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead, but those two episodes are undoubtedly among the most affecting and fear-inducing installments of the all-too-often disappointing series. Her work on the fifth season’s “Spend” and the sixth season’s “Jss” so impressed Twd producer Gale Anne Hurd that she decided to tap her for a Halloween-themed film she had in the works, according to Deadline.

“When I saw the level of passion and professionalism Jen brought to The Walking Dead when she directed for us, I knew I had found the right director to helm Hellfest,” Hurd explained. “Her vision for the film is not only compelling and character driven, but very, very »

‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ to Stage Musical Crossover In Addition to Four-Show Team-Up

10 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The Flash” and “Supergirl” will channel their cast members’ real life superpowers — their singing talents — for two musical crossover episodes in the back half of the season, the executive producers revealed at The CW’s Television Critics Association summer press tour presentation on Thursday.

That crossover is not to be confused with the epic four-show crossover that will take place between “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” in November, executive producer Greg Berlanti noted. With stars Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist both alums of “Glee,” and a number of other cast members having done stints on Broadway, the musical episodes seemed like a no brainer for the producers, and will use “mostly pre-exisiting” songs, although Berlanti said the writers hope to pen at least one original song for each episode.

“When they’re not acting or flying or punching or exploding things, they’re singing,” Ali Adler said of Benoist and Gustin, having »

Openly Gay Olympic Swimmer Says ‘Daily Beast Should Be Ashamed’

A straight, married writer for The Daily Beast has sparked outrage across the Olympic Village and caused the Internet to respond with disgust when he lured gay (and closeted) athletes using dating apps down in Rio with the intent of outing them. Nico Hines’ article “The Other Olympic Sport in Rio: Swiping” has since been removed from the site with a humble note from the editors apologizing for his actions, promising: “We were wrong. We will do better.” However, the backpedaling did nothing to quell the backlash as an openly gay Olympic swimmer shared his anger over the “deplorable” Daily Beast column. »

Film Review: ‘The Lost Arcade’

2 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

When people talk about the romantic grunge of New York City in the ’70s and ’80s, they tend to point to the same handful of ironically cherished neighborhoods and atmospheres — the sleazy excitement of Times Square when it was home to grindhouses and porn theaters, the rat-strewn, heroin-den mystique of the punk-rock East Village and Lower East Side. At the time, the appeal of those places was more infamous than obvious, yet the seduction of their squalor has taken on a glow of nostalgia. In hindsight, it’s not hard to see why they exude an allure of dirty-boulevard cool.

But when you reminisce about the video-game arcades that began to pop up in the late ’70s (in the wake of the success of Space Invaders, which came on the market in 1978), you have to reach a little deeper into the mindset of gritty New York chic to define what was great about them. »
