Have you ever heard of yaws? It’s an infectious disease that mainly affects children living in poor, remote communities.
The good news? We have a cure that works, and we are working for a world free of yaws by 2020.

Today is World #NoTobacco‬  Day. Tobacco kills 6 million people every year. Today, some governments around the world are working to introduce plain packaging (prohibit the use of logos, colours, brand images or promotional info) to reduce the attractiveness of tobacco products.
Reducing tobacco use can save lives. Get ready for plain packaging.

Global life expectancy increased by 5 years between 2000 and 2015, the fastest increase since the 1960s!
The increase was greatest in Africa, where life expectancy increased by 9.4 years to 60 years, driven mainly by improvements in child survival, progress in malaria control and expanded access to antiretrovirals for treatment of HIV.
However, major inequalities persist within and among countries.

422 million people have #diabetes‎‬  around the world. That’s almost four times the number of people living with diabetes than in 1980! Most of them live in developing countries, and factors driving this dramatic rise include overweight and obesity.
We dedicate #WorldHealthDay , 7 April, to this growing problem. We need to step up prevention and treatment of the disease. Together, we can beat diabetes.

Films showing smoking scenes should be rated to protect children from tobacco addiction.
Big tobacco exploits movies to recruit our children as new smokers. Take action against on-screen smoking! http://goo.gl/m0nnEk #NoTobacco

Great news! Today, WHO declares the end of ‪#‎Ebola‬ virus transmission in ‪#‎Guinea‬. The country now enters a 90-day period of heightened surveillance to ensure that any new cases are identified quickly before they can spread to other people.
We commend the government and the people of Guinea.
WHO and the ‪#‎EbolaResponse‬ partners will continue to support Guinea during the heightened surveillance stage, and in its early efforts to restart and strengthen essential health services: http://goo.gl/ioEK3D
