"Sometimes I need a book that is just fun to read."

One plus One by JoJo Moyers is in my opinion a very easy read or in my case easy listening. In this book I defiantly liked having .all the different narrators. I think it was the right decision on their part to have someone with a child's voice doing the part of the little girl Tansy and adults doing the adult parts. It took just a couple of minutes to get use to the British accents and I think they all did well.
Ed a wealthy nerd that has gotten into some trouble for unintentional insider trading .He is told to get out of town for a while by his lawyer and he ends up taking a road trip with Jess a single mother, her teenage step son, her 10 year old math wiz daughter Tansy and their great big slobbering dog. They need to get to Scotland for a math competition cause it looks like that is the only way Tansy will ever get into a school that is suited for her high intelligence. Jess seems to be stuck in Murphy's law cause if something can go wrong for her or her kids it does but Jess has such a good attitude about things working out.
JoJo Moyers has a very special talent to write about quirky people The story may be a little predictable but I ended up liking the characters so much that I just wanted the best for them. It is a very nice romantic story about people being right for each other. I am pretty sure that at some point I will listen or read this book again

I love to read! I love reading even more now with my Audible account. I probably read two to three books a month. And, yes, I have a life!

"I think I found my new favorite author"

    I highly recommend this book!

The first book I ever read that had multiple points of view was "Disappearing Act" by Terry McMillian. I loved the story because I got to see the story from each persons point of view. There are FOUR points of view in this story. Each person - just as in life - has their own point of view, and their own life situations going on, and yet their story intersect, and the author did a great job in keeping me interested in the hardships. It funny because at a certain point, just like the main character - Jessie, I forgot what she did too, until the moment in the book when it was discovered.

Very entertaining, and thankful that the sex scenes weren't explicit. Jojo Moyes wrote enough that I was able to fill in the rest with my imagination, just the way a book should be; I think!

"The FAVORITE, that almost didn't happen !"

I can't say enough good about this book ... I loved every part of it, and didn't want it to end!
Having read only one Jojo Moyes book before this one, and really not enjoying it, I almost made the huge mistake of not giving her a second chance. The story, and the narration are perfect. It sounds cliché, but I actually laughed out loud, and shed some tears, and as this year comes to an end, I can honestly say this is one of the best books (maybe THE best)
I have heard in 2014... Loved it !!!

"Sweet story made better by brilliant performances"
Would you consider the audio edition of One Plus One to be better than the print version?

I think this audio version was brilliant, probably better than reading the book. Hearing the accents and the inflection in each performance made the story come alive! The characters are so likable and you root for their happiness.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Just when you thought nothing else could go wrong...

    "Great Beach Read"

I enjoyed this book, it wasnt original or exciting but it was well done and a fun listen. I liked the various narrators in different voices, it added something to the story. Most of the characters had their flaws but they were likeable. You find yourself rooting for them! I would recommend this as a great beach read or to listen on a car trip. I love JoJo Moyes, she doesnt disappoint!

    "Captivating far beyond Audible's description"

Reading Jojo Moyes is like settling into an English overstuffed chair in front of a roaring fire. Her characters are like old friends, their tales unfold in scattered pieces you're gathering in like jig saw pieces to a puzzle you can't pull yourself away from. Moyes is a brilliant story teller, her tales totally unpredictable and improbable but such exhilarating fantasies one so satisfyingly can vicariously inhabit. Her people grow and fail and digress and learn and toss around the funniest British banter, no matter what their age. This is one of my favorites of Moyes, each novel of hers I read seems more endearing, funny and illuminating. It's akin to a romp in the hay, except you really don't ever want to stomp romping!

    "a fun, feel-good novel"

As a math guy, I was drawn to the novel because it was about a genius girl being taken to a math competition in Scotland. The first two hours did not grab my interest and I was almost ready to stop listening, but then the road trip began, and I was quickly hooked. I really enjoyed the rest of the novel. It's really about a single mother and her two quirky kids trying to scrape by in life. Those characters were great, and the road trip with a virtual stranger was funny and heart-warming, and the rest of the book was great, too. The author found the right balance between interesting and believable (like Anne Tyler usually does), with an energy and sense of humor that made this book a lot of fun.

    "Blew off a whole day..."

I had things to do, I had things I needed to do. But not so much that I felt compelled to stop listening -- life is short, y'know? And good books like this don't come along every day.

Great book. Likable characters, reasonably unique plot, a really great dog and a totally unforgettable Road Trip From Hell, parts of which were so funny I had to go back and replay them -- problem was, I was laughing so hard I was afraid I might have missed something. Among other points of hilarity, anyone who has ever taken an extremely large, extremely hairy, urban dog on a car ride through the countryside will identify, and yes, I have done that. Miz Moyes must have really done it too, or she couldn't have written it so accurately and so hilariously. Those scenes are simply not to be missed.

It's funny -- this is my second Jojo Moyes book and I loved the first one almost as much as this one. Maybe it's time to admit that this kind of normal "novel" -- ie, not a murder anywhere, not a thriller in any sense -- is something I also enjoy. In that sense, these books remind me a little of the Late Great Maeve Binchy, another author whose books I cherish every time I reread them. Both women have the ability to take relatively normal everyday lives and make them so interesting, so fascinating, occasionally so funny, you just can't get enough.

Bottom line: I just put all of Miz Moyes' other books on my wish list. That says it all.

    "Thoroughly Enjoyable!!"

I really enjoyed One Plus One--it is a well written novel with a sweet story. And I love multiple narrators when appropriate, and all four of these narrators portray the characters perfectly--it was a great book to listen to!

I loved the reality of this family--struggling in today's tough times, but hanging in there with the ever-optimistic Jess leading the way. And even Ed, who is unexpectedly thrown into Jess' family chaos, has very real-world issues he has to deal with. But you end up rooting for all of them--and it's an up and down journey the whole way.

I highly recommend One Plus One--not only is it entertaining, but it is a refreshing reminder that optimism, honesty and generosity are still the best traits for us to embrace.

    "Another great one by Jojo!"

As usual, Jojo Moyes turns a few simple characters, an interesting storyline and excellent writing into a highly enjoyable and accessible book. I didn't want to stop listening!

    However...
while the narrators all did an excellent job, the book is written in the third person so to have the voices change is a little distracting. It doesn't make sense to have multiple narrators for the audiobook when there is only one real third person narrator throughout the book. I think this one was a bit over-produced, but still excellent.
