Danny Rosett '84 - President of United Artists Veteren film executive Danny Rosett '84 has been named president of the United Artists division of MGM Studios, Inc. United Artists, which turns 85 this year, is MGM's specialty film unit. Rosett has held multiple positions and roles with MGM and United Artists since joining the corporate finance group in 1994. His most recent position was corporate vice president of marketing and distribution for MGM Studios, a position that included overseeing worldwide business operations for UA.

Michael Douglas '68- Actor/Producer Michael Douglas has been selected as the recipient of the 2004 Cecil B. DeMille Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field". He has had a long career as one of Hollywood's most successful and most famous actors. Appearing in movies since 1970, Douglas has appeared in countless films. Among his earlier work was One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which he produced and won an Oscar for in 1975, 1979's The China Syndrome, Wall Street, for which he received a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Actor in 1987. In 1987 he also appeared in the box office hits Basic Instinct, and Fatal Attraction. In 1995, Douglas's career picked up again with The American President. He appeared in the critically acclaimed The Game and Face/Off in 1997 and starred in 2000's Oscar nominated Traffic. To date, Douglas is regarded in the movie industry to have the best track record for selling movies. He continues to act and produce movies while living with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their son, Dylan.

Gregg Araki '82- Filmmaker Araki is a Southern California native with a passion for filmmaking. His career began with winning the LA Film Critics' Prize for Best Independent Film for The Long Weekend in 1989. In 1992 he filmed the successful The Living End, and in 1995 Araki shot his first big budget production for The Doom Generation. Today, he continues to work out of LA.

Tupper Ansel Blake '66 - Wild Life Photographer This well known wildlife photographer has travelled around the world, taking pictures for magazines and books. His published work includes two award-winning books, "Wild California" and "Tracks in the Sky." One of his most recent publications is "Balancing Water," which takes a close look at the Klamath Basin of Oregon.

Benjamin Bratt '86 - Actor Bratt has been a successful actor since the early 1990's when he played small parts in numerous films, including 1993's Demolition Man. In 1995 he landed the part of Detective Rey Curtis on NBC's Law and Order, and continued with the show until 1999, when he left to pursue a career in film. The year 2000 held a long string of blockbusters for Bratt, including Miss Congeniality, Red Planet, and The Next Best Thing.

Lucinda Carver '79 - Conductor This outstanding musician is the music director and conductor of the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra. She is also a concert pianist and has drawn crowds all over the United States and Europe. Carver is often heard performing on National Public Radio or lecturing at USC.

Duane Chase '76 - Actor, Software Engineer Duane Chase is best known for his role as Kurt in The Sound of Music. Even at the age of 13 he "never intended acting to be a lifelong career." After one film after The Sound of Music Chase came to UCSB to earn his Geology Degree. He received his Masters in Geology from the University of Alabama. Chase is now a software engineer in Redmond, Washington.

Todd Crow '67 - Concert pianist Now teaching at Vassar College, Crow began his career playing piano with classical orchestras. He made his London Philharmonic debut in 1986 and his Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist in 1992. When not teaching his continues to fill major concert halls in New York and London.

Scott Frank '82 - Screen writer Frank is a television and screenwriter, living in Pasadena, California. His first hit as a movie writer was with 1991's Dead Again, starring Kenneth Branaugh and Emma Thompson. Also in 1991, Little Man Tate, another Scott Frank movie, hit theaters nationwide. Frank's most notable film was Get Shorty, a commercially successful movie note about a loan shark chasing Hollywood dreams. Recently, Frank was the screenwriter for Steven Speilberg's Minority Report

Roger Huyssen '68 - Artist Huyssen's work has been seen across the nation on movie posters magazine covers, including over twenty Time magazine covers, and in advertisements for such major companies as IBM, AT&T, and Kodak.

Georgia Jeffries '69 - Emmy nominated screen play writer This successful screenwriter has received three Emmy nominations throughout her career. They include two for her work on Cagney and Lacey and another for the hit show, China Beach.

Jack Johnson '97 - Singer/Songwriter Johnson, surfer-filmmaker-and now songwriter, released his first album Brushfire Fairytales in January of 2002. He is now mixing with the likes of Ben Harper and G. Love and Special Sauce.

Paula Kaatz '67 - Costume Designer This talented costume designer has earned six Emmy nominations. Her work on ABC's China Beach earned her five nominations and one win in 1988 for costume design. She won her second Emmy in 1989 for Pancho Barnes. Kaatz has also worked on popular shows such as M*A*S*H and Briscoe County Jr.

Reveka Mavrovitis '86,'91 - Mezzo Soprano Mavrovitis's voice has taken her around the world. She began her career in such venues as Sarasota Opera, Santa Barbara Grand Opera, and the San Francisco Opera Center, singing the title role of Carmen as well as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. In 1995, she moved to New York to perform at the NY Metropolitan Opera. She has since had roles such as Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana, Thisbe in La Cenerentola, Flora in La Traviata, Wellgunde in Gotterdammerung, and Olga in the Merry Widow.

Mark McKerracher '82 - Stage Actor McKerracher received his BFA in 1982 and has since stared as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables on Broadway and WestEnd in London, The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera and as Ol' Deuteronomy in Cats in the WestEnd. McKerracher has also spent six years Directing/Training Drama to Disabled Adults.

Mary Miss '66 - Sculptor This New York based artist's evironmental art and installation pieces have been displayed around the nation. She is mainly known for a park she designed with Susan Child at South Cove in New York's Battery Park City.

Hajime Teri Murai '74, '76- Musician Murai is the current music director of the Peabody orchestras and Director of Orchestral Activities. He is the Recipient of numerous ASCAP awards for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music and has guest conducted with top orchestras around the nation.

Eric Roth '66 - Academy Award winning screen writer This talented writer has worked behind the scenes on numerous critically and commercially successful films. Perhaps his most famous movie is Forrest Gump, for which he won an Oscar in 1994. Other Roth movies include The Postman, The Horse Whisperer, and The Insider, which earned him a second Academy Award nomination.

Barbara Rush '48 - Actress This actress appeared in over 40 movies from 1951 to 1996. Her most notable movies are Magnificent Obsession, Robin and the Seven Hoods, Steel Magnolias and Young Philidelphians. She has also starred in numerous theatre productions including A Woman of Independent Means in 1983. Rush's television credits include ABC's Peyton Place, 1968-69, and the Dick van Dyke Show, 1973-74.

Richard Serra '61 - Artist Serra is internationally recognized as premier sculptor. His earlier works dealt mainly with large amounts of lead. Both minimal and abstract, the sheer size of many of his pieces attracts much attention. Serra is perhaps best know for his piece, "Tilted Arc," a huge, curved steel wall set up in front of the Federal Plaza in NYC.

Michael Westmore '61 - Award winning make up artist This Hollywood insider has worked on countless movies and television shows. He has earned at nine Emmy's, including several for Star Trek, an Oscar for "Mask," and several other Academy Award nominations.

Don Wood '67 - Illustrator This Southern California resident has illustrated a number of children's books written by his wife, Audrey. Two of their most popular works inclued "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub," a 1986 Caldecott Honor Book, and "Heckedy Peg," winner of the Irma Simonton Black Award and the Christopher Award.
