His shield can be employed in numerous ways: taking out multiple enemies at once, deflecting incoming fire back at enemies, solving puzzles, and scaling walls. Players will be able to launch shield-first into the fray with the superior force of the world's first Super-Soldier at their fingertips and they'll need every bit of that strength to overcome a castle that's both an acrobatic playground for the Captain's physical prowess and a house of mystery with enemies and danger at every turn. Despite these annoyances, Captain America: Super Soldier is a fun, if sometimes mindless, action roller coaster. The game doesn't stray too far from tried and tested gameplay mechanics, but its lack of creativity ultimately holds it back, and it lacks one final level of polish needed to shine.

In the end, Captain America shows off where Arkham Asylum really succeeded. While the combat system is nearly identical, everything else is a tremendous step backward.

A real surprise, in that we actually wanted to keep playing it rather than being forced to for the sake of the review. [Issue#208, p.86]

Captain America: Super Soldier shamelessly copies Batman: Arkham Asylum, and even though it doesn't achieve the same excellence, it remains a nice venting beat'em all to dive into before Batman Arkham City arrives in October. You may yet consider waiting a little so as to see its price get a little lower, because it's still not one of those average games that won't leave a mark in history.

Marvel's iconic character makes a decent entry in videogames. There was potential here, but as with most movie tie-ins, the result looks rushed and unpolished.

Captain America: Super Soldier is too simple, becoming a title only recommended for Cap fans.

A poorly executed licence product. Nothing super about this at all.

If they don't then their chances of a good review are slim. Such as in this case. All of us gamers played it and loved it, as such we gave it a great review as you can see. The game is awesome and plays like Batman, if not better. Play it and enjoy the greatness that is, Captain America. Expand

How can this game be rated low because it mimics the best featureAnother unappreciated sleeper hit where the review sites assume the worse. How can this game be rated low because it mimics the best feature in Batman AA - combat? This is the most addicting and fun aspect of Captain America! The game has a few shortfalls being it's too short and it should have had more of a story to it. But the execution of making people FEEL like Captain America is astounding. The sound effects are spot on and the character dialogue is great! Graphics are on par with modern games today and the gameplay is one of the best a superhero game has to offer. 9/10. Expand

I played it on 'Avenger' mode and found it to be a fairly decent challenge. The puzzle games are a bit weak but the combat beat 'em up action is great fun! The fighting control is much smoother and more graceful than Arkham... which I found to be a bit too constricted. Watching the Captain flip from one enemy to throw a fist into the face of another in slow motion then skillfully tossing his shield at not one but two ranged enemies was a blast and worked all too well! If you like a bit of a challenge and enjoy hunting down collectables, I suggest you wait until after you've completed the game. You can return to the castle from your last save. The enemy encounters are waaaay more satisfying and challenging throughout the castle as you back track through it. More enemy diversity, bigger enemies where you wouldn't expect them... etc. Expand

I basically felt like I was playing Batman:This is a fun game - especially if you are a fan of comic books and Captain America in general. I basically felt like I was playing Batman: Arkyhm Asylum, but with a 1940's Captain America flavor. Is it as polished or clean as Batman...no. But then again you can buy it for $10-20 less retail than Batman.

For a game based on a movie, this is a big win for the gamers. Most tie-ins are very poor...you can tell someone spent some time here.

Lastly - it is a pretty easy Platinum trophy to obtain if you want. I felt like I was wasting time collecting some items in the game...if you aren't into trophies, don't bother. The challenges, though, aren't impossible like some were in Batman. A little work and it pays off.

I recommend buying it on Amazon for a cheap price and playing through. Do it soon and you can still get a decent trade-in price for a solid title.
