Today is the International Day of Older Persons. Populations are getting older. With advances in medicine helping more people to live longer lives, the number of people over the age of 60 is expected to double by 2050 and will require radical societal change for the #YearsAhead

Each and every refugee and migrant must have full, uninterrupted access to a hospitable environment and, when needed, to high-quality health care, without discrimination on the basis of gender, age, religion, nationality or race. WHO supports policies to provide health care services irrespective of refugees' or migrants' legal status.
In this Q&A, you can find answers to the most common questions on #refugees ' and #migrants ' health needs. The most frequent health problems of newly arrived migrants include accidental injuries, hypothermia, burns, cardiovascular events, pregnancy and delivery-related complications, diabetes and hypertension: http://goo.gl/6YjuWD

New WHO #RoadSafety‬  report: Despite progress, road traffic deaths remain too high→ 1.25 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. This is an unacceptable toll. Yes, Road Safety strategies are saving lives, but the pace of change is too slow. Further action is required: http://goo.gl/XE1SrP

28 September is World ‪#‎Rabies‬ Day. Rabies is 100% preventable, yet it causes tens of thousands of deaths every year, mostly in Asia and Africa. 99% of rabies cases in humans are caused by dog bites.
Do you have a dog? If we vaccinate dogs, we can ‪#‎endrabies‬ and save lives http://goo.gl/GWlSAh

The world is on the verge of an effective ‪#‎Ebola‬ vaccine. Results from an interim analysis of the ‪#‎Guinea‬ Phase III efficacy vaccine trial show that the vaccine VSV-EBOV is highly effective against Ebola. While the vaccine up to now shows 100% efficacy in individuals, more conclusive evidence is needed and trials will continue. This is an extremely promising development. This record-breaking work marks a turning point in the history of health research and development: http://goo.gl/HTVQQq

The World Health Organization is responsible for keeping public safety from disease and keeping the public healthy. However because they have so much to handle, they have a slower response towards disease outbreaks.

To make this statement: "The World Health Organization has stated repeatedly that transportation restrictions impede the ability to respond to the outbreak with necessary personnel and supplies, and state that travel restrictions and closure of borders at points of entry are not recommended." Allowing anyone to make leisure visits to infected areas is not working. If personnel is sent, they shouldn't be able to leave till it's over. So much for science over religion if WHO thinks like that.
