Canon announces the development of a 120 MP DSLR

Further below in the text for the 8 k Video camera the text mentions 13 stops dynamic range.

If I had read such a statement two or three years ago I would've gone nuts and I would have started to stop my normal diverted activities to be able to buy such a beast when it is going to be released.

Shame on me but I frankly don't believe the marketing bla bla any more. All recent Canon bodies are traditional DSLRs with all the positive and negative aspects.

Canon still uses their (by today's standards) ancient sensor technology and the latest incarnation is 50 MP but does not address size, dynamic range and ISO 100 image quality.

So what should this announcement bring?

Is Canon finally nervous or seeing a drop in interest from the photographers?

We've just got the 50 MP dinosaur to the market and a 120 MP should be on the horizon - how crazy does that look like?

Personally I am done with marketing bla bla and I want to see the real advantages and I want a compact, lightweight stabilized camera to facilitate my fast primes and some new lenses I am going to invest in.

What do you think about this cryptic announcement?
