4 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Back when The Monuments Men came out, Dave suggested that Hollywood turn The Ghost Army into a movie and a year later, it's happening! Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. just scored the rights to Rick Beyer and Elizabeth Sayles' The Ghost Army Of World War II: How One Top-Secret Unit Deceived The Enemy with Inflatable Tanks, Sound Effects, And Other Audacious Fakery. [caption id="attachment_473607" align="alignright" width="360"] Image via PBS[/caption] Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips are producing via 22 & Green and will be joined by American Sniper producer Andrew Lazar. The trio and the studio have locked Earth to Echo scribe Henry Gayden to pen the script about the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, an army unit of artists, architects, actors, set designers and engineers who were assigned to pose as Us Army soldiers and stage combat to deceive the enemy. 2 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

While there are some people who are decidedly afraid of their childhoods being ruined by Hollywood taking on something they grew up with (see the divisive reaction to "Jurassic World" last weekend), only you can let a movie spoil your memories. But a new trailer is here for the new generation of kids ready to find out who Charlie Brown and his pals are. Read More: 10 Animation Directors Who Moved Into Live-Action Steve Martino directs the big screen adventure of the Charles Schulz created characters which features the elements older adults will recognize, and updated mostly tastefully for contemporary kid crowds. Watch: Richard Gere Is Homeless In The First Trailer For Oren Moverman’s ‘Time Out Of Mind’

2 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

After an excellent screenwriting career Oren Moverman— he penned Todd Haynes’ prismic Bob Dylan drama, “I’m Not Here,” the criminally underrated drug addiction drama “Jesus’ Son” and many more— the writer took the leap behind the director’s chair and hasn’t really looked back. Moverman’s helmed three terrific indies so far and in his debut, “The Messenger,” lead Woody Harrelson to a kind of career comeback and a supporting Oscar nomination. His cop drama, “Rampart” landed in a weird time during 2012—a December Oscar qualifying run and a January release— and got a little lost in the shuffle, but it’s another harrowing performance by Harrelson and another top notch movie. Moverman hasn’t stopped writing either and this week’s Beach Boys/Brian Wilson drama “Love & Mercy” is another screenplay he recently wrote. For his latest effort, “Time Out Of Mind,” which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, »

First Trailer for IFC’s “Filmitization” of Eric Jonrosh’s The Spoils Before Dying Hits

2 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

IFC has released the first trailer for Eric Jonrosh's long-delayed adaptation of his own Infinite Jest-sized novel, The Spoils Before Dying, set in the jazz scene of the 1950s and featuring Michael K. Williams' first major lead comedic performance as Rock Banyon. In a thoughtful touch, the trailer is made to look like the actual trailers for long-lost films, such as Orson Welles' Too Much Johnson, and includes snippets of Will Ferrell's Wellesian author-filmmaker-drunk Jonrosh introducing the film, much like he did in IFC's deliriously nonsensical The Spoils of Babylon. [caption id="attachment_473719" align="alignright" width="350"] Image via IFC[/caption] The trailer also gives us a first look at Haley Joel Osment, playing Banyon's confidant, Michael Sheen and Kate McKinnon in unspecified roles, and Maya Rudolph as Fox, whose murder Rock is framed for and must ultimately solve. The rest of the plot of this parody, which will have three episodes in total premiering on IFC, »

AMC Set to Invade Comic-Con with Walking Dead Shows, Into The Badlands

34 minutes ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Last week brought the news that Lionsgate will be hitting Comic-Con's famed Hall H with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 and Cannes hit Sicario, and now AMC has staked their claim at the San Diego media bonanza. The indomitable cable channel will also be in Hall H for panels devoted to The Walking Dead and it's upcoming, Kim Dickens-led spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. Not-unfounded suspicions suggest that new footage from the spin-off will premiere at the panel and, just maybe, the hugely anticipated casting of Walking Dead's most dangerous nemesis, Negan, the role which everyone from Jon Hamm to Stephen Dillane has been rumored to be circling. Oh, and probably more stuff about the Wolves. More Cameos Rumored For 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice'

39 minutes ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Obviously, **spoilers ahead** but there are many that would argue we're in the time when everyone should just accept spoilers as a way of life. At any rate, we already know that it will be more than the Dark Knight and Man Of Steel appearing in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice." Zack Snyder's superhero showdown is pretty much launching WB's DC-verse slate, and as such, they are cramming in as many characters as possible. Heroic Hollywood reports that Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa) and The Flash (played by Ezra Miller) will appear in the movie, albeit in brief cameos. Aquaman will be held prisoner in a "containment chamber" and audiences will see his hand slap the glass. Meanwhile, The Flash will stop a robbery. So basically, you'll see Aquaman's hand and The Flash as a blur of movement. Hooray. What other surprises will there be? At this rate, »

Deutschland 83 Review: Portrait of a Spy As a Young Man

42 minutes ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

In many ways, Deutschland 83 is the perfect coda to The Americans’ third season. For one, the eight episode Sundance TV series (the first German-language series to ever be broadcast in the U.S.) picks up right where FX’s spy drama left off with Ronald Reagan’s “Evil Empire” speech. Two, it features a young East German man, Martin (Jonas Nay), who is recruited on a spy mission to West Germany largely against his will. Like the Jennings in The Americans, Martin is living in enemy territory in order to serve the people back home, while also being immersed — for better or worse — in an entirely different cultural experience. [caption id="attachment_473807" align="alignright" width="350"] Image via SundanceTV[/caption] Deutschland 83, created by Anna and Joerg Winger, focuses on a time during the Cold War when Germany was caught in the eye of the storm between the U.S.S.R. and the United States. »

Details Emerge about The Flash and Aquaman in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

After last week's plot synopsis, many fans have been wondering how much of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice running time will be devoted to the title characters' conflict and how much will cover the "Dawn of Justice" (the formation of the Justice League). Rumors have been floating around for awhile now about which future Justice League members will get their debut in the film. Other than Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), it became rather obvious Aquaman (Jason Momoa) would have some introduction considering we have official artwork as seen above, but what about The Flash (Ezra Miller) and just how much of them will we seec If you believe the good folks at Heroic Hollywood, we now know how big the roles of both will be. ‘Jurassic World’ Bites Off Record Breaking $25.6 Million Monday

1 hour ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Jurassic World” is showing few signs of slowing down after demolishing opening weekend records with a smashing $524.4 million debut.

The blockbuster sequel ripped into $25.6 million at the North American box office on Monday — a huge sum that ranks as the biggest non-holiday Monday in history. The previous record holder was “The Dark Knight,” which picked up $24.5 million in 2008.

Jurassic World” continues what has been a monster year for Universal, which has also fielded “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Fifty Shades of Grey,” and “Furious 7.” Analysts predict the picture could end its global run with more than $1 billion in receipts. Along with “Furious 7,” it will mark the second Universal release this year to cross that benchmark.

Legendary co-financed the $150 million production, which Colin Trevorrow directed. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard co-star in the picture.

Marvel Studios Congratulates Jurassic World on Their Historic Opening Weekend

1 hour ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Jurassic World reigns supreme, and even the mighty Marvel Studios has acknowledged the film's historic box office achievements. Once the numbers were well and truly tallied, the Colin Trevorrow film starring Chris Pratt was found to be victorious, surpassing Marvel's The Avengers' domestic weekend opening record. Granted, the film only held that top spot for about three years, and yes, the presence of Pratt in both Universal's dino dystopia and Marvel's cinematic universe softened the blow, but that box office performance still has to sting. But just to show that there were no hard feelings, Marvel reached out to congratulate the folks at Universal on social media today.
