The spring of 1972 marked the beginning of a university- and community-wide event that students proclaim the best weekend of the school year. Offering music, food, beer, and games, the Johns Hopkins University Spring Fair, first known as “3400 on Stage,” has drawn thousands upon thousands of students and locals looking to take a break from the arduous grind of Hopkins academia or hoping to explore the largest student-run fair in the country. The following will recall the evolution of the Johns Hopkins Spring Fair, as well the staff and other long forgotten traditions of a major annual Homewood celebration. Though people swarm back year after year, the Fair has enjoyed a dynamic history.
