The Mason Symphony Orchestra is comprised of outstanding string, wind, and percussion players from throughout the School of Music and the university at large.

The orchestra maintains an active performance schedule including the traditional Holiday Concert and "Messiah" in December, the annual "Young Masters" Music Scholarship Benefit Concert in May, featuring winners of the school-wide Concerto Competition, as well as two other regular concert performances every semester.  (See information about selected recent performance below.)

In addition to performing significant works from the standard orchestral repertoire, the ensemble has commissioned various new works for orchestra by well-known composers. 

Guest artists and conductors from around the world have appeared with the orchestra. Among these artists are Leonard Slatkin, Doc Severinsen, Allen Vizzutti, Leon Bates, Misha Dicter, Eugenia Zuckerman, Alessandra Marc, Eugene Fodor, and the late William Warfield.
