GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Demonstrators opposed to the Washington Redskins name held a rally Sunday before the team's scheduled game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Various Native American advocacy groups conducted a march followed by news conference outside University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

More than 100 people chanted and held signs saying "change the name."

Organizers say the Glendale protest is part of a nationwide effort in other states to get the NFL team to drop the name.

Some Native American leaders have demanded the Washington team's name be changed, calling it a racial slur. Some media outlets have chosen to no longer use the name when reporting on the team.

Redskins owner Dan Snyder has vowed to never change the name, saying it honors Native Americans.
