The product is solidly built but you are locked to the amazon app store and none of the paid apps you may have bought from google play store can be transferred to this device.
So you cant share apps on your kindle device and android phone. You will have to buy it twice to use it on both the devices.
eBooks you bought from other sources dont show up as kindle ebooks but as pdfs so you need to use it without the kindle features. Hence I have returned the kindle although i really like the device.

I loved it for the reading purpose. Never have one ebook reader so can't compare. But at least this one feels too good to me.
Just one thing that I don't like is the amazone app store.
Google play was much better.
The app store also yet not customized according to Indian consumers. Specially felt this in Books section.
There is no messenger app !!! I mean.. hello!! Text plus can not be used here in India...
At least give one.. anyone of the popular messenger app that can be used here.
And that silk browser is not that silky.. lol
Give a option to exit it or close it.
Will edit review after more time of uses. For now its just one month. So can't comment more.
Oh yes the screen freezes once.. But it was no big issue.. Just restart it and everything is fine..
BUY IT and ENJOY IT.

(1) Very responsive touch
(2) Good resolution
(3) Good audio for a relaxed transition from reading to listening
Cons - MAJOR :
(1) Lacks ability to organize books into folders / categories. And this feature was available in my previous Kindle (3 year old) ! I have 500+ books but I don't download them all because I can't organize them
(2) The music organizer may have defects. Sometimes it shows music within the same Album as different Albums with same name! I have to create Playlists to circumvent this - but I shouldn't have to do this at all
(3) Memory card slot would have been a great feature - especially for temporarily using Kindle as a Photo-viewer, Video-viewer and Music player for content you want to use once
Cons - MINOR :
(1) Slightly heavy for a book-reader. Under 300g would have been perfect
(2) A book reader should come as a hard bound book. Amazon should give a protective folder/cover as a part of the product (basic will suffice). Older people are happy making a single purchase rather than shopping for multiple products

I feel guilty to leave 2 star for this device, but I have to due to the poor audio / sound quality. This is the 3rd Kindle HD device I own, I would not have bought the 3rd one, had I not satisfied with the first 2 devices. I mistakenly bought the Kindle Fire HD 8.9'', thinking that it would have the same qualities of my previously owned Kindle Fire HD 7'' devices, but that is not the case. 7'' HD devices are simply awesome -- great display, video color, rogue build (my 5 year old nephew dropped it several times, still it works great!) and excellent sound quality. I realized that 8.9 model itself as audio quality issue only after I received the replacement for the 8.9. That too has the same audio problem. Customer care executive said that they cannot increase the sound of a particular device or they cannot replace it with a 7'' one.
Bottom line: Kindle Fire HD 7'' is excellent, but 8.9'' is poor.

I have been waiting eagerly for the official launch and was so happy when it finally landed in the stores. The build quality is solid. The display, the response to touch is excellent. And the ebook reading experience is awesome. However, personally I preferred the reading experience superior in Kindle Paperwhite. Its so good to read and easier to hold. But as a family package the Fire HR is great. The dolby digital sound is very good. And with a good quality headphone the sound is better than some of the fine portable media players. The camera is good and video conferencing is easy on this.
The dictionary and X ray features in the ebook reader are very useful.
The weight is on the heavier side, but the build quality is solid.
A charger as part of the accessory would be welcome. Only an USB cable is supplied.
Apps are good, but are comparatively limited in number. But then apps is not the primary reason for which one would buy a Kindle.
Its an amazing companion. For reading, apps, gaming and entertainment. Five Stars without any doubt.
The dictionary and X ray features in the ebook reader are very useful.

This device is looks as beautiful as it looks here on their website. Performance is at par and no leg at all as far as I can tell you, though I am not a power user.
PROS:-
1. Big enough then needed.
2. Fantastic resolution. I could really see the difference in quality between my full HD PC monitor and this.
3. No leg. Played Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers and Candy Crush Saga.
4. Sturdy build.
5. WiFi reception is really very good. My Nokia Asha 311 could not find the WiFi signal but Kindle not only found the signal but I could
easily browse the net.
6. All most every app is available at Amazon so wouldn't miss Google Play Store. If you still miss something you can side load apps
and it works good.
7. Reading books on it was a pleasure, main feature you could use is highlight text with different colours and see word meanings in
dictionary on the spot. If books are purchased and only purchased from Amazon then they sync the book across different devices
running Amazon reading app otherwise no sync.
8. 5 GB free cloud storage.
CONS:-
1. Its biggest con is its weight. Not possible to hold it in one hand as it is heavy and slippery. One less star for it weight.
2. Gets heat up while playing games, little uncomfortable.
3. Battery drains fast if browsing net, 15% battery drains in on hour. If playing games it could be 25% in an hour. Without PowerFast
charger it takes quite a time to charge it.
4. No Charger with it so had to charge it thorough PC and it takes one Hour to charge 7%, but if you have charger then its not con. I
have bought one.
