Jack White to Record and Release "World's Fastest Release Record" in Single Day

Jack White is no stranger to attempted record breaking, and he's once again shooting for the moon. This time, it's by recording what he's calling the "World's Fastest Released Record." On Record Store Day (April 19) at his Third Man Records in Nashville, he'll record a direct-to-acetate live version of the title track from his upcoming LP, Lazaretto. After that, the masters will be rushed to United Record Pressing, who will begin pressing 45s while making sleeves out of pictures taken at the performance. Then, the finished records will be taken back to Third Man to be sold to the waiting masses, within hours of being recorded.

At the beginning of the year, Godspeed You! Black Emperor offshoot Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra returned with a new record, Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light on Everything. They'll follow it up with a new EP, Hang on to Each Other, on April 29 on Constellation. Listen to the 12-minute "Birds Toss Precious Flowers" above.

Hyperdub Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Four Compilations, International Shows

Influential London label Hyperdub turns ten years old in 2014. They're celebrating by releasing four compilation CDs collecting new and old material. The first compilation, Hyperdub 10.1, is out on May 19 internationally and May 20 in the U.S. and covers the label's dance music output. The double-disc set features new and old material from the likes of Burial, DJ Rashad, label founder Kode9, Cooly G, Ikonika, Mark Pritchard, Ill Blu, and many more.

Lower Sign to Matador for Debut LP Seek Warmer Climes, Share "Lost Weight, Perfect Skin"

The Walkmen's Hamilton Leithauser Releases "11 O'Clock Friday Night" Video, Updates Tour, Pushes Back Album

The Walkmen's Hamilton Leithauser has moved back the release date of his upcoming solo record, Black Hours. Now, it'll be out on June 3 instead of May 6, via Ribbon Music. In addition, he's adjusted his touring schedule, postponing some dates and adding others, some of which are in support of Ray LaMontagne.

Sharon Van Etten Reads the Tarot in Video For "Taking Chances"

Sharon Van Etten will follow up 2012's Tramp with Are We There on May 27 in the U.S. and May 26 in the UK (via Jagjaguwar). Today, she's shared a video for her recent single "Taking Chances", directed by Michael Palmieri. The clip has a mystical, beatnik vibe to it, and finds Van Etten clad in a black turtleneck, doing tarot and palm readings. It was inspired by the Agnès Varda film Cleo From 5 to 7. Rare David Lynch Record The Air Is on Fire Reissued

Film icon David Lynch's releases for Brooklyn label Sacred Bones include the 2012 Eraserheard reissue and last year's The Big Dream. On April 19, for Record Store Day, Sacred Bones will add another title to their Lynch catalogue: a reissue of the hard-to-find, 41-minute electronic soundscape The Air Is on Fire.

John Coltrane 1966 Temple University Concert to Be Released in Full for First Time

On September 23, John Coltrane's birthday, Impulse!/Resonance will release Offering: Live At Temple University—a November 11, 1966 performance by Coltrane that took place in Philadelphia less than a year before he died. It features Alice Coltrane on piano, Pharoah Sanders on reeds and flute, and Rashied Ali on drums, along with Sonny Johnson filling in for Jimmy Garrison on bass.
