USCIS Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act

To ensure openness and transparency and to better serve those seeking more information about USCIS and its operations, the agency centralized processing of all USCIS-related Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) requests in a single office.  The USCIS centralized FOIA office receives, tracks, and processes all USCIS FOIA requests.

NEW!  Form G-28, Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Accredited Representative, has been revised (02/28/2013).  The new version of the form can be found here.  Beginning May 26, 2013, USCIS will no longer accept prior versions of the G-28.

YOUR OPINION MATTERS
In an effort to capture feedback from the requesters community, the USCIS FOIA/PA Branch randomly surveyed 400 recent FOIA requesters to determine their satisfaction with the information provided on the USCIS webpage concerning the FOIA process.  In addition we asked requesters about their awareness and use of the various tools aimed at improving the FOIA experience.  With more than 20% of the stakeholders responding, nearly 90% of the respondents were satisfied with the Online Status Check.  We also asked requesters their preference for receiving FOIA/PA responses electronically.  Nearly 60% of those responding indicated they would prefer to receive their FOIA/PA response via electronic mail.  While USCIS currently does not have this capability, we are in the process of exploring the use of the technology to further improve the FOIA experience for our stakeholders.
