Student Publications

Collision Magazine

Founded in 2001, Collision Magazine is one of the few undergraduate publications in the nation dedicated exclusively to creative nonfiction prose and poetry.

Each semester the magazine publishes personal essays, narratives, travel pieces, feature articles, profiles, and poems by undergraduate and graduate students from Pittsburgh and around the United States. Collision staff members help to select submissions, plan magazine release parties, and implement public art projects.

Pittsburgh Undergraduate Review

This journal, established in 1980 by honors students, offers undergraduates an opportunity to publish analytical and scholarly essays.

The Pittsburgh Undergraduate Review (PUR) staff gain valuable experience in editing an academic journal that publishes outstanding papers from undergraduate students throughout the nation and is subscribed to by colleges throughout the United States.

A unique feature of the PUR is the process of professional refereeing of manuscripts by established faculty members. The faculty critiques are returned to the student author with the intention of helping the author produce a publishable piece of scholarly work.
