50th anniversary of the African Union

The year 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Organization of African Unity. Preparations are ongoing for a memorable commemoration which will mark a new cornerstone in Africa’s history as well as give content and a fresher meaning to Panafricanism and African Renaissance. 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly

The 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly will open on 17 September 2013. A special event is planned on 25 September to follow up on efforts made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (resolution 65/1). More

ICAAP11

The 11th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP11) will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 18 to 22 November 2013 under the theme "Asia/Pacific Reaching Triple Zero: Investing in Innovation”. ICAAP11 will present an opportunity to assess the HIV situation in the region, evaluate recent scientific and social developments in the AIDS response, and engage in a dialogue on major issues faced by key affected populations and civil society. World AIDS Day 2013

Observed worldwide on 1 December since 1998, World AIDS Day unites people from around the world to raise awareness of the global AIDS response and join, in solidarity, the millions of people living with and affected by HIV. “Getting to Zero” is the theme of World AIDS Day, echoing the UNAIDS vision of achieving “zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination, zero AIDS-related deaths.” This theme will be used until 2015.

17th ICASA

The 17th International Conference on AIDS and STI in Africa will provide a forum for exchanging lessons learned and experiences gained in evidence-based responses to AIDS and related health problems in Africa. It will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from 7 to 11 December 2013, under the theme “Now more than ever: targeting zero.” More
