Full-Time Executive Committee Members

Chairperson: Sarah Jayne King

As the full-time Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario, Sarah Jayne is the official spokesperson and helps to coordinate the campaigns and government relations of the Federation. Previously, she served two terms as Vice-President Finance of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (CFS Local 41). Sarah Jayne also served as the Ontario Treasurer of the Canadian Federation of Students last year.

Outside her involvement in Federation campaigns during her time at Local 41, Sarah Jayne has been dedicated to social and environmental justice, ranging from coordinating a campus food collective to implementing a bike cooperative and a bottled water ban at the University of Ottawa, the fifth university in Canada to commit to the ban.

Sarah Jayne finished her Honours degree in International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa in June 2012.

National Executive Representative: Toby Whitfield 

Toby Whitfield serves as the National Executive Representative for the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario. In this role, Toby represents Ontario students to the national executive of the Canadian Federation of Students, works to deliver and expand services for members across the province and develops and implements campaigns targeting the provincial and federal government.

Previously, Toby served as the Federation's National Treasurer and President and Vice-President Finance & Services for the Ryerson Students' Union (CFS Local 24) where he represented 25,000 full-time undergraduate and all graduate students at Ryerson University. In these roles Toby worked to develop and improve cost-saving services including the members' health and dental plan. In addition to improving services, Toby focused on educating and mobilizing members for various local, provincial and national campaigns.

Toby first got involved in student organizing in his first year at Ryerson University participating in the Federation's campaign to reduce tuition fees and helping to organize towards the February 7, 2007 national day of action. Since that time, he has participated in a variety of campaigns focused on affordability and quality of post-secondary education, challenging oppression and making campuses and communities more sustainable.
