Work could begin on Toronto’s first new major tourist attraction in decades by the end of this year, according to a published report.

Contracts should be signed by this summer paving the way for the construction of Ripley’s Aquarium, according to the Toronto Star. The new 150,000-square-foot exhibition of marine life is slated to go up at 301 Front St. W., near the base of the CN Tower, and is expected to draw millions of visitors.

The attraction is expected to be ready for the 2015 Pan Am Games and will include tens of thousands of different marine animals and the largest underwater tunnel in North America equipped with a moving walkway, surrounded by various creatures, the Star reports.

Ripley’s will front the bulk of the cash -- $110 million -- with the three levels of government reportedly set to chip in $10 million each. The Star reports a deal with the city means the attraction will pay reduced property taxes for 10 years.
