It is 50 years since Jamaica became independent from the United Kingdom.

Music has always played a prominent role in the island's culture and history.

DJ Don Letts explains how the story of Jamaica's independence can be told through three key records: Easy Snappin by Theophilus Beckford, Independent Jamaica by Lord Creator and My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small.

Listen to Don Letts on 6Music on Saturday 4 Aug at 15:00 BST, when he celebrates 50 years of Jamaican Independence.
