After script delays and even more casting rumors, we are finally on the road to a second trip to the final frontier: the long-awaited follow-up to J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot has officially started production.
With still so much longer to go until May 17, 2013, there is an endless list of details we don't know about the second Abrams "Trek," but there is a list just as long of things we hope to see and others we're praying not to.
Here are our hopes, dreams and fears for the "Star Trek" sequel.
The 2012 Golden Globes have come and gone, and unfortunately, they did little else besides that.
If you asked most people to recount their favorite moments from Sunday's telecast, you'll certainly hear about Seth Rogen's poorly-timed erection or the challenge Madonna extended to Ricky Gervais. (We would have run too.) But aside from one or two memorable surprises, the Golden Globes lived up to their reputation and did little else.
Gervais returned to host the show after his performance at last year's honors stirred the kind of controversy that the historically mild award show desperately need. Predictably, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association wanted Gervais back, but the Ricky we got was far more reserved than what we saw last year.

You kind of have to love Mark Wahlberg. While he's certainly capable of surprising audiences by breaking type (and doing it spectacularly), the man knows what he likes and doesn't apologize for any of it.
Over the years, Wahlberg has carved out his own corner of the crime genre, which we'll call the "Wahlberg Picture." There are clear variations in the several Wahlberg Pictures that Mark Wahlberg has made, but at their core, they're the same enjoyable flick. His newest movie, "Contraband," is no exception to this rule.
If you're unfamiliar, here is a helpful guide to the key characteristics of a Wahlberg Picture.

For those of us who grew up during the "Little Mermaid," "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" era of Disney films, the re-releasing of these childhood classics hits on some very nostalgic nerves. At least for this writer, anyway. I have very specific childhood memories tied to all of those animated classics and am looking forward to seeing "Beauty and the Beast 3D" during its limited release (which began today).
Anyway, in thinking about the magic involved in this film - the first animated movie ever to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar- I can't help but wonder about the talented voice actors who brought the characters to life. Where are they now? Click through to see what the actors who brought Belle, Beast and Mrs. Potts to life are up to now.

For his role in "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy," Gary Oldman is getting a lot of buzz as a potential Oscar nominee. It would be his first, if you can believe it. He’s popped up in so many memorable roles over the years, but he’s never received any adulation from the Academy.
In anticipation of the hopeful good news, we came up with a list of five other actors who’ve never gotten the call either.

It's gotta be pretty awesome to be Benedict Cumberbatch right about now. People love his take on "Sherlock," he's about to take flight as the iconic Smaug in "The Hobbit," and as if all that wasn't cool enough, the British actor has just been announced as the new villain in "Star Trek 2." Not a bad way to kick off 2012!
The question remains, though: who is Cumberbatch playing? We tackled that very question in this week's edition of Talk Nerdy to Me, and you can see our thoughts by clicking the video above. But the speculation doesn't end there. We reached out to some of our favorite "Trek" fans across MTV Movies, MTV Geek and NextMovie for their insight into Cumberbatch's character. Read on for what they had to say!

Three days in and five new competitors later, MTV Movie Brawl 2012 still rages strong. "Hunger Games" and "Twilight" fans continue slugging it out to give their champion of choice the most steam heading into next week's March Madness-style bracket tournament, but there's fierce competition between many of the other movies as well.
Our preview of the tournament continues today with a look at one of the Brawl's clearest front-runners, a glimpse at Taylor Kitsch and some other hot models, and a salute to Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Step aside, Eric Bana - there’s a new "Star Trek" villain in town: the British gent with the fabulous name and even more fabulous cheekbones, Benedict Cumberbatch.
Cumberbatch’s casting in J.J. Abrams’ next "Trek" flick has turbocharged the 35-year-old actor’s ascent to superstardom, and with all of his current and upcoming high-profile film projects, he’s set to inherit Michael Fassbender’s title of It Movie Guy of the Year.
But if you’re not yet familiar with Mr. Cumberbatch’s work, here’s a brief introduction.
