Minneapolis is also home to the oldest consistently running theater, which is named the Old Log Theater. The theater opened in 1940 and can seat 350 people. It is also home to the Guthrie Theater, which is known to be the largest regional playhouse in the United States. Theater, the arts, and music draw people from all over the world. It is known as the United States’ “most literate city.”
A city that it home to the arts, it also features a thriving nightlife scene. Nightclubs such as the Karma, Envy, and Cabooze offer a buzzing environment for residents and visitors to enjoy. Home to the world-renowned artist Prince, Minneapolis offers a music scene that ranges from dance, jazz, and contemporary music.
The city houses Fortune 500 Companies, such as Target and U.S. Bancorp. The economy is commerce, finance, and industry. However, the community has a rich diverse population which promotes social programs and philanthropy, which play a big part in the economy. The city population of over 3,250,000 residents is made up of Germans, Scandinavians, and European Americans. The residents get to take advantage of some of the best health care facilities in the United States. The city is home to four of the top hospitals in the country.
