     Lewis R.W. Howell was born on Thursday, 27 March 1755 Westmoreland Co., VA; Lewis Howell's pension application, file #W9719. He served in the in 1776 Enlisted in October 1776 at Wheeling "on the Ohio River" as a private in Captain Stephen Ashby's Company in Colonel James Wood's Virginia regiment and served two years; he received a wound in the knee at the battle of Germantown. He enlisted in 1778 , in Shenandoah County, Virginia, and served three years as a private in Captain Abraham Tipton's and William Cheery's companies in Colonel Joseph Crocket's Virginia regiment.2 He married Mary Ann Kirk on 28 April 1780 at in VA.2 Lewis R.W. Howell married Leona Sisk on 15 December 1814 at Hopkins Co., KY.1,3 Lewis Howell's pension application stated that he enlisted in 1776 at Wheeling on the Ohio river under Col. Stephen Ashby and served two years in the 12th Virginia Regiment and that he enlisted again in 1779 in Shenandosh County, Virginia, and served three years in the Continental line. About 1821, Lewis R.W. Howell (an unknown value).4 Pension application by Lewis Howell for two years of service after he enlisted under Captain Stephen Ashby in Oct 1776 in the Contintental line, regiment commanded by Col. James Wood, and was honorably discharged in Pennsylvania at Valley Forge by Gen Woodford. He was enlisted again by Captain Abraham Tipton and attached to the regiment commanded by Col. Joseph Crockett called the Western Battalion were he served three years before being discharged in Berkeley County Virginia (now West Virginia) by Capt. William Cherry. He also stated he had been inscribed on the pension list of the Kentucky Agency at the rate of eight dolllars per month since June 1818 by a certificate of teh Hon Secretary of War dated 15th February 1820. He further stated that he was wounded in the knee at the battle of Germantown which prevents him from doing farm work. Lewis Howell's application for transfer of pension payment from Kentucky to Illinois. He left a will on 10 July 1832 at Gallatin Co., IL, which named LEWIS HOWEL
In the name of God, Aman. I, Lewis Howel of the County of Gallatin and State of Illinois, being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make ordain and establish this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all others and I do hereby appoint Allen More of the County of White and State of Illinois, to be the executor of this my last will and testament. First it is my will that all my just debts be paid that my personal property be sold for ___ purpose. Second after the payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses I do hereby devise and bequeathe to my beloved wife, Loama, Howel the farme and improvements thereon as whiel I now live known as followes to wit: It lying and being in the County of Gallatin and State of Illinois and bounded as follows, towit: it being the West half of the North West quarter of Section twenty in Township Seven South of Range Nine East during her natural life to take the issue and proffits thereof after her death I bequeathe and devise all my right titel and estate of it and to said farm to my two daughters Morning and Francis Morning and her heirs to have the North End of said land and Francis shall have the South End which is the home place said land to be divided equally to have and to hold unto them and there heirs and asigns forever. I likewise will to my two sones William Howel one dollar and to James Howel one dollar to be levied out of my personal estate my will is that all of my personal estate after the above debts be discharged to remain in the hands of my dear beloved wife so long as she livs after her death it is my will that the remains of the personal estate if thear be any remaining after her death to be divided betwen my two daughters Morning and Frances Equally betwen them.. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the 10th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two.

     Vincent Howell was born on Wednesday, 13 August 1794 Henderson (now Hopkins) Co., KY.2,3,4 He was Commonwealth vs. Vincent Howell in bastardy. The Dept. appointed in discharge of his recogce., and it appearing to the Court by the oath of Rebecca Pedcock that the said Deft. is the father of a bastard female child begotton on the body of said Rebecca of which child, she the said Rebecca, was delivered in this County on the 13th day of August 1815; and that the said Deft. doth pay to Thomas Adams, Esquire, for the care and support of said child, the sum of $15 annually for the term of eight years, to commence from the said 13th day of August, 1815; and that he be in the custody of the Sheriff until he executes bond with approved security for the securing of the payment of the aforesaid several sums; and, thereupon, said Deft., with George Fugate, Alex. Major, and William Barghis, his securities executed bond accordingly in the penalty of $200. Presen: Wm. G. McGary and Thomas G. Davis, Esquires. in 1816 at Hopkins Co., KY.5 He married Nancy Jane Ashby, daughter of John Ashby and Mary Harding, on 15 January 1818 at Hopkins Co., KY.2,6 Vincent Howell died on Sunday, 13 August 1848 in Hanson, Hopkins Co., KY, at age 54.4 He was buried in Old Salem Methodist Church, Hopkins Co., KY.
