HBO Sets Premiere Dates for 'Game of Thrones,' 'Mildred Pierce'
HBO has set premiere dates for Mildred Pierce and Game of Thrones.
Based on the George R.R. Martin fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire, Thrones will bow April 17, while Mildred Pierce will bow March 27.
Thrones stars Sean Bean, Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage. Martin adapted his work for the series and also serves as Thrones’ executive producer.
Todd Haynes’ miniseries adaptation of Mildred Pierce stars Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce and Evan Rachel Wood.
Additionally, HBO has picked up Lena Dunham’s comedy series Girls.
Like her feature Tiny Furniture, Dunham created and will star in Girls, which will begin shooting this spring in New York. The show follows a group of underemployed twentysomething women navigating, clumsily at times, life in New York and as such is an heir apparent of sorts to HBO’s iconic Sex and the City.
“Lena Dunham quickly established herself as an important young talent with her first feature,” said Sue Naegle, president of HBO Entertainment, in a statement.
Girls is executive produced by comedy kingmaker Judd Apatow with Jenni Konner.
