He also shoots down talk of a possible move to the BBC, saying 'I’m still very excited about what we’re doing here.'

NEW YORK – Sony Corp. chairman Howard Stringer dismissed speculation that he was a candidate to lead the BBC and signaled no interest in selling or spinning off Sony’s entertainment business as has sometimes been rumored in the past, the LA Times reported.

Since he has been on top of the Japanese media and technology company since 2005, some have wondered what may be next for the 68-year old, but Stringer signaled he may not be ready to leave Sony just yet. "I’m still very excited about what we’re doing here," Stringer said at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

And he highlighted that the interaction of the conglomerate’s content and technology businesses is finally starting to gain momentum. "For me, this is a culmination of a dream that started five years ago," he said. "The integration of electronics and content is something I've believed in for a long time. I feel this is a moment when I can enjoy being right."

For example, Sony’s music subscription service will launch in the U.S. on its own Bravia Internet-connected TV sets and PlayStation 3 game consoles.

Sony Corp. of America CFO Rob Wiesenthal also recently touted the company's synergies between content and technology businesses.

"I told them to take my name off the list," Stringer said half-jokingly about talk that he may be in the running to head up the BBC. "And it’s still on the list. I don’t know why."
