“ Esta película es, en mi opinión, la mejor adaptación de una serie de TV. "End of Evangelion" es lo más cercano a una experiencia cercana a la muerte. Evangelion, tomando elementos de diversos icónos de la psicología y filosofía, siempre tuvo la intención de que el espectador intente reflexionar sobre su condición como ser humano y como ser social. Como uno se ve ante si mismo, como uno se ve ante el resto y como el resto nos observa a nosotros. El after-taste que pretende esta serie dejar impregnado es algo tan insistente y visceral que es imposible no quedarse unos minutos. Y todo está llevado a cabo de una forma impecable, empezando por una historia que adopta diversas matices cuya narrativa muchas veces se ve nublada por el esoterismo que suponen diversos conceptos propios de la religión judeo-cristiana. La segunda mitad de la película, con una repentina despreocupación narrativa y deseos viscerales de romper los clacisismos propios del cine (influenciado por Godard y la nouvelle) y el animé, ahonda en diversas formas de relato vanguardista, que va desde la inclusión de imágenes contemplativas, textos en pantalla, imágenes de carácter onírico, montaje experimental, roptura de la cuarta pared, secuencias live-action, variación en la estética de la imágen, etc.
"End of Evangelion" es una joya del cine postmoderno de animación que fue, lamentablemente, ninguneada por el sector especializado del cine y en cambio fue víctima de muchos "análisis" obtusos de comentaristas otakus. La recomiendo a cualquier estudiante de cine. ” - ld_ross
