In 2002 the World Industry of Fashion and Beauty was shocked. The then Miss Universe from Russia, after 4 months after her coronation refused to continue with her status by her own request. The reason of her refusal was interesting: she said that her activity as Miss Universe would prevent her progress towards her career in law.
This amazing woman is a Russian beauty from Saint-Petersburg and her name is Oksana Fedorova. “Beauty Will Save the World”- this slogan was used by Dostoevsky (see www.nevanews.com, issue June 2006) and Nicholai Roerich (see NevaNews issue February 2004 on our web site) and is epitomized by the Russian women of today.
Oksana was born in 1977 in Pskov. Till 1997 she successfully studied in the police-law Lyceum and the special school of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Pskov. In 1997 she went to Saint-Petersburg and entered the University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She also became a police Major and a lecturer at the same University..
Today Oksana combine her career in the police with a career on Television. Her first experience is as a presenter of the children’s evening program “Good Night, Babies!” In 2003-2004 she was a co-presenter of the famous entertaining program “Fort Boyard”, where she helped the participants win Gold from this Fortress. Since 2004 she has presented the program “Subbotnik”, about housekeeping. She has also taken part in the popular show “Dancing with the Stars”.
She was a winner in the beauty contest “Miss Saint-Petersburg”, in 1999. Then she gained the right to represent Russia in the “Miss Universe” contest, by winning the “Miss Russia” title in 2002.
Since 2003 Oksana has become an Ambassadress of goodwill within UNICEF - United Nations Children’s Fund. “I appeal to the society, business and our State and want to say that only in union we can help children”- she said. Also Oksana has taken part in political and charitable activities. In 2003 she became the leader of the youth organization “The Energy of Life”.
The fact that such strong personalities as Sophie Loren and Catherine the Great attract her implies that Oksana is very strong, purposeful and determined woman herself. “There is a word “must””-she says. This is her life motto.
In August 2007 this ‘Pride of Russia’ married a German businessman in Munich in Germany. Her husband Philip Toft originates from a nation which follows a similar life motto to Oksana.
Oksana is not only beautiful and intelligent, but also she loves children and enjoys cooking and housekeeping. Russia in 2007 is now famous for such kind of girls!
