Students who plan to use scholarships awarded by Pitt upon their acceptance to the University should consult the Scholarship Eligibility Policy listed on the SAO News and Announcements page. Students must also check with the provider of their scholarship(i.e. Honors College, Chancellor's Scholarship) to make sure that it will be applicable to study abroad. If it is deemed applicable, students should be aware of exactly what the scholarship covers (i.e. if can it be applied to the cost of housing and meals or is it solely designed to cover the cost of tuition, etc).

Beginning in the fall 2008 term, incoming students who are recipients of University sponsored tuition or tuition, room and board scholarships will have their scholarship adjusted. The tuition scholarship amount will be: for Pennsylvania residents, an amount equivalent to the undergraduate School of Arts and Sciences, Pittsburgh campus tuition charge; for non-Pennsylvania residents, an amount 50% greater than that charged to Pennsylvania residents, adjusted annually.

Students may apply to a range of scholarship possibilities to help defray the cost of a study abroad program. Some such scholarships include:

• University of Pittsburgh Study Abroad Scholarship
• Nationality Rooms Scholarship
• Vira Heinz Scholarship for Women in Global Leadership
• Scholarships managed by academic departments, centers such as the Center for Global Health, and schools such as the College of General Studies
• University Center for International Studies scholaships
• National Scholarship Competitions, such as Fulbright, Gilman, Boren, among others.
• Some Pitt-Recognized programs offer scholarship opportunities specifically to students who apply to them.
• There are scholarships designed for underrepresented students such as African Americans, students with disabilities, and Latin American students. While the scholarships listed in the links above provide a variety of opportunities for students, they are not an exhaustive list of possibilities.
