Gladstone Branch - Buses Replace Trains Between Summit & Gladstone - Weekends Beginning May 30, 2009

On Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Saturday, May 30, 2009 and continuing through early fall, NJ TRANSIT will perform work on the power supply system between Gladstone and Summit stations.  Buses will replace trains between Gladstone and Summit.  

 

INDEPENDENCE DAY:  On Friday, July 3 (Independence Day Observed), trains will operate on the Gladstone Branch.  A special holiday schedule will be in effect; see timetable for details.  On Saturday, July 4, buses will substitute for trains between Gladstone and Summit.  

 

Customers Traveling Outbound (to Gladstone)

Upon arrival at Summit, customers continuing to stations along the Gladstone Branch will transfer to ADA-accessible buses located on the Railroad Avenue side of the station (exit near the ticket office and restroom). Customers should show their train ticket and/or seat check to the bus operator when boarding.

Customers Traveling Inbound (to Newark/Hoboken/New York)

Customers will be bused to Summit.  Two ADA-accessible buses will operate—one serving Murray Hill and New Providence stations and a second making all other stops. When boarding, customers should show their rail ticket to the bus operator. Gladstone            Parking area at station building

Peapack               On County Route 512 (Main Street) eastbound at Holland Avenue

Far Hills                On US 202 North across from entrance to station

Bernardsville       On US 202 North (Mine Brook Road) in front of train station

Basking Ridge      On North Finley Avenue (towards Basking Ridge) at Ridge Street

Lyons                    Station parking lot at archway

Millington             Intersection of Division Street and Long Hill Road (station building)

Stirling                 Central Avenue at station driveway exit beyond railroad crossing

Gillette                 Mountain Avenue beyond railroad

                             crossing

Berkeley Heights On Springfield Avenue at Plainfield Avenue (County Route 641)

Murray Hill           Foley Place at Station Building (railroad crossing)

New Providence   Springfield Avenue at bus stop on far side of Passaic Ave. (beyond supermarket)

Summit                Railroad Place at station building (use exit near ticket office and restrooms)

New Providence   On Springfield Avenue at Passaic Avenue opposite supermarket

Murray Hill           On Floral Avenue at Foley Place (left of station building)

Berkeley Heights On Springfield Avenue at Plainfield Avenue (County Route 641)

Gillette                 Mountain Avenue just before railroad 

                             crossing

Stirling                 Central Avenue across from station driveway just before railroad crossing

Millington             Intersection of Division Avenue and Long Hill Road beyond railroad crossing across from the side of the station building

Additional Information


All buses will be accessible.  Customers should present their train ticket, pass or seat check to the bus operator when boarding.  See May 30 timetables for bus departure times.

WEEKDAY MIDDAY BUSING – SUMMER 2009

For several weeks this summer, buses will substitute for trains between Gladstone and Bernardsville during weekday midday hours.  Further details about weekday busing will be provided at a later date.
