Should the US nationalize the oil and gas industry in order to compete globally with nations that have nationalized or heavily subsidized theirs?

Also for consideration: Should gasoline and heating oil be rationed until the price returns to reasonable levels?

If our basic utilities (water, gas, electric) are deemed important enough to be regulated, with prices and profits set at pre-determined levels, why shouldn't oil or gas be deemed vital to our interests and regulated as a utility, with pre-determined pricing and profits?

Currently the standard on MPG is for a fleet of cars, meaning the average has to be at a certain level...

(a) Would you support a law requiring ALL vehicles including suvs (except delivery trucks), to get at least 20 MPG by a certain date, say 2010. (why wait for 10 years to do something).

(b) would you restrict imports of any cars that do not meet this standard.

I would vote yes, and as soon as possibly, start today designing for next years model.

Just wanted to let you know that it is ridiculous that you even run that preposterous 'poll' on your webpage : 'Do you agree with Sarah Palin that the US should go to war to defend Georgia if necessary'. It is so disingenious and dishonest for you to run that scam 'poll'. She never said that. She simply reiterated what the NATO agreement is all about, remember , 'all for one and one for all', this is the gist of the NATO treaty. So she stood by that definition. So you took her comment out of context and now you are running this ridiculosus 'poll' on your website. It's sad that you lowered your standards to that of a tabloid. 1. Should there be a constitutional ammendment requiring a balanced federal budget?
