Searchme is the best one, it saves me too much time to open another page, i vote for it.
You need to fix the link to gasbuddy on the first page of your article- it sends people to "gasbuddycom" and not "gasbuddy.com"
http://www.ted.com
http://www.travelmuse.com
The most beautiful and user-friendly travel site I've ever seen. Helps you get inspired and research trips (collaboratively with friends). Just launched last week. I love it for the richness of editorial content, elegance, and ease of use.
citeseer.org - A resource for computing researchers
Ok, I'm a little biased here, but I think PianoWorld.com is one of the most interesting and useful sites on the Web.
The world famous Piano Forums at Piano World will reach the 1 Million Post mark this Wednesday. For a niche web site run by one person, that's a lot of posts!
Piano World averages over 185,000 page views a day.
PianoWorld.com, proof the piano is still popular, and fun.

I would have to say THE NEST or THE KNOT.com
How about a site that isn't a fluff piece of garbage? Try Democracy Now! (www.democracynow.org) for example--an actual news site that provides actual news without all of the kitten-in-a-tree/ news-of-the weird nonsense that infects other "news" sites. Some people, believe it or not, are actually interested in knowing what's going on in the world, and Democracy Now! offers an amazingly accurate barometer for what stories will be reaching the mainstream headlines, often months in advance, whereas corporate media sources like Time Magazine too often put commercial interests before accurate reporting.

EBAY.com
My new favorite website is Less Accounting (http://lessaccounting.com), which I've been using to run my small business for months now. It's become the most visited site on the web after my email and I think the team did a really great job building the app. It makes complicated accounting procedures simple for non-CPAs, which is huge since I do all of my own records keeping.
http://librivox.org
herecomestheson2008.com or org.
This was an insignificant wed site last year, but it's worth studying what it says this year. It's religious. Yes, King Jesus comes in the year 2008. NOBODY believes it, but prophecy will be fulfilled. As it was in the days of Noe, it is today. We have concentrated on EVERYTHING else to think about and make our lives comfortable, but guess what? WE have forfgotten about the real meaning of life. Jesus comes back this very year!

The Mo'Kelly Report
http://www.mokellyreport.blogspot.com
Politics, entertainment and a real witty intersection of both. Highly underrated, just below the radar of the big blogs...for now. Seems to be generating some buzz...
I think only one person (Mo'Kelly) posts all the material.
celebrity-babies.com, theybf.com
Great picks! Thanks for including us. At first I thought this was the best NEW sites of 2008, but turns out it's the best sites in 2008, might need to clarify that in the future, but I've bookmarked a few treasures for myself and seen some on here that I totally agree with (re: Mint, PopSugar, and of course Zeer)

Zeer.com
I really enjoy Howcast which is already on your list. It is informative, comprehensive, and a lot of fun.
Jango.com
http://www.abebooks.com - Almost any book ever written can be found at this conglomerate of 20,000 used book stores around the world. Each book store posts their inventory - 1st addition, signed, paperback or hardback, etc. so that you can select the best book in your price range. I LOVE IT!
http://www.kineda.com
Great fashion and lifestyle blog! It's the probably the only one I read on a daily basis.
Pandora -- http://www.pandora.com -- by far the best music site on the web right now.
profootballtalk
Some of my faves:
I get all of my recipes from Allrecipes.com. You will not use any other site, guaranteed.
I always use Kayak.com to search for cheap travel. TravelZoo.com is another great site for travel bargains.
I use Zannel.com to send pictures to my friends from my cell. Its Twitter on steroids.
I love PopCandy.com for my pop culture fix. A lot better than PopSugar which tends to be a little tween for my tastes.
TelevisionWithoutPity is a "must" site.
And Last.FM is a pretty good "scrobbler" for music lovers.
http://netvlinks.com/
for your NETERTAINMENT tv, movies, trailers, music & more...
Envirosites that got missed but are worth checking out:
http://www.ecolectic.org
http://www.ecogeek.org
http://www.inhabitat.com
Menupages is the best site for researching restaurants online. I'd rather look at menus, make judgments myself based on the offerings, than get the opinion of someone at NY Mag or Zagat which really miss the target.

http://www.2swap.com
"Free your books, the rest will follow." That's the motto of 2SWAP.com, my website dedicated to freeing captive books in America.
There are probably more than a hundred books on your bookshelf that you keep not because you want or need them, but because you don't know what to do with them.
Take a book down, offer it up to the 2swap community, mail it out if you get a request. Then use your credit to claim any other book listed on 2swap.
Spread knowledge.
Save a tree.
Save money.
"Free your books. The rest will follow."
Tripkick.com (as mentioned on Time.com) is really very very cool. This is perhaps one of the neatest travel site innovations in a long time, as it allows you to find ACTUAL ROOM NUMBERS in hotels! Love it!
YouTube.
GASBUDDIES IS MY FAVORITE..........WHEN GAS IS SO HIGH IT IS FANTASTIC TO KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR THE CHEAPEST.........GO GASBUDDIES.
http://TheCelebrityCafe.com
The Internet's longest running entertainment magazine.
GasBuddy is the best, it has the most informative material and information about saving money during your daily commute and your other necessary trips.
GasBuddy has saved me more money than any other Web site. My savings have been almost $400 since mid December , 2007. That is moremoney in my pocket and less money in the banks of the OPECkers!
http://www.carbonoffsetsdaily.com is new but probably the best daily news source for the carbon market
tvrage.com
http://www.nflgridirongab.com
http://www.sandiegotraveltips.com
http://www.sandiegobargainmama.com
I like http://www.digg.com where I can read as well as post my favourite news items. Thanks.
mapquest.com
For music lover, this website is realy cool: deezer.com
Hi Anita, I didn't see many "Arty" sites on the list. Perhaps Sketchplanet (http://www.sketchplanet.com) can be submitted.
There are many online drawing sites already on the net, but Sketchplanet restricts drawing space to allow for more detailed work and less pressure to fill up the space. The navigation and layout is clear, with Web 2.0 features such as placing your drawings on your own site as well a personal RSS feed.
Regards,
Giles Dawe
Great idea, but did you guys really forget to put a LINK to each website on each review??? That might have been the most annoying thing I encountered all day!
favorite site on this year's list is Geni.com
