Lap 60 Barrichello and the crowd are delighted about his second career victory.

Lap 60 The two Saubers are still battling massively for 6th place. Massa currently holds the last points position and Heidfeld is fighting hard to usurp his rookie team mate.

Lap 58 The Ferraris cars are travelling more slowly than a few laps ago and look to be holding station.

Lap 55 Frentzen has a spin whilst trying to overtake Villeneuve, and comes close to colliding with R Schumacher.

Lap 45 Trulli is locked in battled with Massa fo sixth, and is holding M Schumacher behind him while Barrichello makes his top.
Lap 44 Trulli has made his second stop from 6th. He lost his place to Massa and is now running in seventh.

Lap 36 Raikkonen retains his third place.
Lap 36 Raikkonen pits for what has to be his only stop - he is out in 11.2 secs.
Lap 35 Barrichello lengthens his lead over M Schumacher to 4.8 secs. Raikkonen is 26.1 secs off M Schumachwer in third, Button is 32 secs off Raikkonen and R Schumacher is 6.6 secs off Button.
Lap 34 Montoya has told journalists that his tyres were "gone" and that he had been calling the team to come in. He did not apologise to Coulthard but his words indicated that he accepted his mistake.
Lap 34 M Schumacher has narrowed the gap between him and Barrichello to 4.6 secs.
Lap 34 Only Raikkonen and the two Jaguars have not yet had a pit stop.
Lap 33 Top 6 = Barrichello, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, Button, R Schumacher, Trulli.
Lap 33 Yoong spins as he enters the pit lane - he came close to spinning back onthe track and making contact with a Toyota - but just avoids it.
Lap 33 Massa emerges just in front of Heidfeld and the two dual around the three turns of the new section until Massa seals his higher place.

Lap 31 Heidfeld pits jyust as R Schumacher acclerates away - he is out in 11.4 secs.

Lap 31 R Schumacher pits - the rear of his Williams twitches as thetyres scrabble for traction as he turns right into the pit lane.
Lap 30 McNish has also passed Irvine for 11th.
Lap 30 Raikkonen has caught R Schumacher right up and now only 0.1 secs separate them.

Lap 28 YELLOW FLAGS: Have they got away with it? No, DC looks to have a problem with his suspension and has to park up. Montoya is also out the race. The Colombian looks to have misjudged the bumps around Turn One - and in the process of losing the rear of his Williams he took Coulthard out the race too.
Lap 28 Montoya spins and knocks the Scot's McLaren into the dirt on the outside of the track - YELLOW FLAGS.
Lap 28 Coulthard gets a run on Montoya - he pulls alongside as they enter Turn One.
Lap 27 Top 6 = Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, Raikkonen.
Lap 27 Button's stop has dropped him down to tenth, Trulli is 11th.
Lap 27 M Schumacher sets a new fastest lap - 1.32.226.
Lap 26 Irvine has made it up to 13th from 17th while his team mate de la Rosa is 12th.

Lap 26 R Schumacher is now only 5.2 secs away from his brother.

Lap 25 Coulthard is very close to Montoya - only 3/10ths separate them.

Lap 24 Ferrari mechanics are in the pit lane.
Lap 24 M Schumacher had only been 0.7 secs behind Barrichello he is now 11 secs down. R Schumacher had been over 34 secs off his brother but is now 26.6 secs away.
Lap 23 The German spun backwards onto the high resistance tarmac and he has lost a lot of time.
Lap 23 M Schumacher spins at RTL Kurve!
Lap 23 Button pits from 6th. It is an 8.9 sec stop.
Lap 22 McNish makes his stop in 13.5 sec.
Lap 22 Frentzen slingshots past his team mate Bernoldi for 13th.
Lap 22 Trulli pits from 8th. It is a 9.2 sec stop.
Lap 22 Renault mechanics are out in the pit lane.
Lap 21 Villeneuve's stop takes 9.8 secs before he accelerates back onto track.
Lap 21 Villeneuve is the next to pit from 14th.
Lap 21 New fastest lap for M Schumacher - 1.32.807.
Lap 21 Webber pits immediately after his spin - it is a 10.3 sec stop.
Lap 21 Webber spins through 360? but manages to keep his Minardi going beautifully.
Lap 20 R Schumacher is 29.5 secs off M Schumacher, asnd 3.7 secs ahead of Montoya.
Lap 20 Barrichello sets a fastest first sector time.
Lap 20 Barrichello responds by setting a fastest third sector and new lap record overall - 1.33.294. He increases his lead over M Schumacher to 1.2 secs.
Lap 19 M Schumacher sets the fastest second sector time - he is now only 0.7 secs off Barrichello.
Lap 19 Salo locks up coming into the first corner and has to run through the dirt and gravel on the very outside of the track.
Lap 19 Barrichello and M Schumacher lap Webber in 19th.
Lap 18 Top 6 = Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, Button.
Lap 17 Button moves up to 6th when Raikkonen makes a mistake and runs very wide through Turn One. The Renault driver sails past as his McLaren adversary struggles to extract himself from the outside of the track.
Lap 17 Barrichello sets the fastest third sector time.
Lap 16 Trulli has taken one second out of Button as he chases his team mate down.
Lap 15 The two Ferraris come up to lap Yoong...and they pass almost as one.
Lap 14 Villeneuve has made it up to 14th from his P19 on the grid.
Lap 14 Barrichello sets the fastest first sector time.
Lap 14 Trulli overtakes Massa for 8th.
Lap 13 Coulthard has dropped back off Montoya - 1.3 secs separate them.
Lap 12 Trulli is now pressuring Massa for eighth.
Lap 12 R Schumacher has fallen back to 18.3 secs off M Schumacher. The German is only 1 sec off his Ferrari team mate, Barrichello.
Lap 11 Fisichella's Jordan lost some bodywork as he came down the main straight - he earlier bounced heavily over the kerbs and grass making a mistake tackling a chicane.
Lap 10 Trulli takes McNish round the outside of Turn One for tenth.
Lap 10 Coulthard has closed right up on Montoya - just 0.6 secs separate them.
Lap 9 Fisichella and Sato bring up the rear of the field - Fisi is 18.2 secs off Yoong while Sato is a lap down on the leaders.
Lap 9 Salo, for some reason, has fallen back to 18th.
Lap 9 Trulli has made it up to 11th after his earlier mistake, and is now pressuring McNish for tenth.
Lap 8 M Schumacher is catching Barrichello, now only 1.4 secs separate them. R Schumacher is a huge 11.4 secs behind his older brother and Montoya is 1.8 secs behind his team mate. Coulthard is 1 sec off Raikkonen and the Finn is a further 1.1 secs behind his Scottish team mate.
Lap 7 Yoong is being penalised for jumping the start.
Lap 6 McNish has made it up to 10th from his P13 on the grid. His team mate Salo lost out by dropping from 10th to 13th.
Lap 6 Trulli has fallen down to 12th as a result of his mistake on the last lap.
Lap 5 Trulli runs very deep into Turn One - that could have lost him places.
Lap 5 M Schumacher is closing down on his team mate Barrichello, who leads by 2.8 secs. M Schumacher is 4 secs ahead of R Schumacher, who is 1.6 secs ahead of Montoya.
Lap 5 M Schumacher sets a new fastest lap - 1.33.565.
Lap 4 Top 6 = Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard and Raikkonen.
Lap 4 Barichello sets a fastest lap of the race - 1.34.375.
Lap 3 M Schumacher passes R Schumacher at the RTL Kurve.
Lap 3 M Schumacher is just 3/10ths of a sec off R Schumacher, who in turn is 2.1 secs off Barrichello.
Lap 2 Top 6 = Barrichello, R Schumacher, M Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, Raikkonen. Button has leapfrogged Trulli for 7th, his Italian team mate is eighth, Massa has moved up ninth and Heidfeld is tenth.
Lap 2 Both Jordans pit after their contact at Turn One - Fisichella's car is worked on first while Sato waits patiently for a space to open up.
Lap 1 M Schumacher lines up to pass Montoya - can he do it? He does, and squeezes past the Colombian for third place.
Lap 1 Barrichello is alongside Ralf, and sails past him down the straight - he must be on a lighter fuel load.
Lap 1 M Schumacher passed Montoya but the Colombian took his higher position back.
Lap 1 The two Jordans touch and have a small spin - they are both pushed to the back of the grid but get underway again.
Lap 1 R Schumacher challenges Montoya through Turn One - the young German makes it ahead by going round the outside of his team mate.

Lap 0 The cars line back up on the grid.
Lap 0 Thanks to the extra 600m added by the first corner modifications the number of laps has been reduced to 60 for today's race.
Lap 0 Track temperature has gone up to 31?C.
Lap 0 The formation lap is underway. Lots of wheelspin to lay rubber, but all 22 cars made it off the grid.
Lap 0 The right-hand side of the track (offline) is extremely dusty - especially in the modified area of the track.
Lap 0 There are five minutes until the formation lap (14.00 CET).
Lap 0 There are some concerns that the modifications to Turns 1 and 2 could see accidents, especially at Turn One as it is now quite a tight bend.
Lap 0 Montoya starts from pole here today, followed by his team mate R Schumacher, M Schumacher, Barrichello, Coulthard and Raikkonen.
Lap 0 Also celebrating is Giancarlo Fisichella, who participates in his 100th GP today. However, the Italian's happiness has been a little muted by his P18 on the grid after his worst qualifying in 15 races.
Lap 0 It is a special event for the circuit and race organisers this year as it is the Nurburgring's 75th anniversary of motor racing.
Lap 0 The pit exit is now closed and all cars have to be parked on the grid.
Lap 0 This morning Barrichello was quickest in warm-up followed by M Schumacher, Coulthard, Raikkonen, Frentzen and Sato. R Schumacher was 14th and Montoya was 17th. Williams said that they had kept the number of laps completed low in order to preserve engines and tyres.
Lap 0 The pit exit is open and drivers are having a last shakedown before parking up on the grid.
Lap 0 Track temperature is 28?C but grey clouds are visible over the Eifel mountains. Rain has been predicted for this afternoon, but as the weather is so unpredictable here at the Nurburgring these forecasts can change throughout the race.
Lap 0 Welcome back to formula1.com's coverage of the 2002 European Grand Prix - it is 13.30 local time meaning that the pack rolls off the grid for the formation lap in half an hour.
