He is the author of seven books, two exercises books and he has more than 100 publications. He is life senior member of IEEE, SC14 and SC C2 of CIGRE and is active in a number of working groups. With his proposal, the Interdepartmental Master's Program "Distributed Green Electric Power and the Advanced Network Infrastructure for its Management and Economy " was approved in 2014 by the General Assemblies of the Special Composition of the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology and Physics. The Ministry of Education approved the Master's Program on August 13, 2014. Upon the launch of the Master's degree program in 2015, he was elected Director of the program and served in this position until his retirement in 2018. He drafted the study regulations of the Interdepartmental Master's Program, organized, and operated the program by selecting modern courses and suitable teachers, organized the bureaucratic processes and operated the program website. He also wrote the Diploma Supplement in Greek and English. After the approval of the new law on postgraduate studies, he worked and organized the new Postgraduate Studies Regulation for its re-establishment. Today the Interdepartmental Master's Program operates under the name "Green Power Systems: Smart Technologies and Management Strategies".)

Fuel-cell-based power generation is a promising DG technology, gaining popularity in residential applications due to its cleanliness, portability and suitability for electricity and heat generation. It also features as a great choice for remote isolated residences for covering the water needs. This paper presents an experimental study of a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) type Fuel Cell System (FCS), combined with a battery bank supplying some domestic loads. The system could be easily adjusted for grid-connected operation via the dc/ac converter that is employed. A fuzzy logic controller is implemented via a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and regulates the output of the converter in real time. The controller shows good performance under severe load step changes and rapidly restores the balance between supply and demand at steady state.

ABSTRACT A 30KW Wind Turbine, designed and constructed by Greek manufacturers and Research Institutions, is combined with a modular Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant, in order to: (1) obtain transfer of technology in the design and construction of all parts of the wind Turbine / Desalination system, with special care to critical components, such as: (1.a) aerodynamic design of rotor (1.b) construction of blades (1.c) selection of membranes (1.d) load management and monitoring system (2) obtain the technical capabilities and infrastructure, which allow in the future for: (2.a) design and commercial exploitation of similar systems (2.b) construction of critical and high-added value components of similar systems (2.c) assembly, procurement and maintenance of similar systems (3) lead to the formation of a consortium of companies and research institutions, housed at the Patras Science Park, which will constitute a pioneering Organisation for the design and construction of integrated systems for the exploitation of wind energy combined with desalination systems. Determination of technical specifications was based on three primary criteria: (i) Reliability and world-wide acceptance of methodologies, configuration, material or principle. (ii) Lowest cost without loss of reliability. (iii) Reduction of maintenance cost and effort. and two secondary criteria: (i) optimum exploitation of produced energy at low wind speeds, by a modular arrangement of the desalination plants. (ii) protection of environment and respect of the surroundings aesthetic view, by eliminating the diesel generator and the special design for the rejection of waste from the desalination plant. The combined system is currently being installed at Drepanon Patras, at the premises of TITAN and will be completely autonomous (stand alone). However, wind potential data of representative Aegean islands were used for the design since the wind potential of the system installation site is weak. For the selection of the stand-alone configuration, the following parameters were taken under consideration: (a) non-existence of PPC grid (b) high cost of electricity (c) high water consumption requirement (d) technically, most difficult case.

Exploiting the structure of the converter circuit and using a modular modelling technique the state equations of the converter are obtained effectively. The resulting dynamic model simulates successfully a wide range of converter arrangements and is especially suitable for digital computer
