Emel completed her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to law school,
she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. She has
previous experience working in a small firm assisting with trial preparations.
While at law school, she volunteered with organizations such as Law in Action Within
School as a Workshop Facilitator (she is also a LAWS alumni and the recipient of the
2014 LAWS Ron Daniel’s award), Osgoode’s Community & Legal Aid Services (CLASP)
program, and Law Society of Ontario’s Litigation Department through the Pro Bono
Students Canada’s program completing research on policy initiative and assisting with
case files. Throughout law school, she has participated in many mentorship programs
and has mentored over 15 students in their journey towards legal education.
Emel is fluent in both English and Turkish.
In her free time, Emel enjoys fitness, travelling, and spending time with her friends and
family.
