The Bikeriders (2023)
Love the rawness.
Not a bad movie. Love the dialogues, the accents and the rawness of this movie.... it felt very natural, immersive and tells a story that most people don't know about; how a bike club turned into a gang.
The performances are great, I think Tom Hardy was spot on as always. They story is based on a book and thus though violent in a way it lacks some near seat sitting experience. It felt relaxed most of the time with few plot twists. It fails a bit to make you empathize with any of the characters until may be the ending...**no spoilers*. It's a good movie I recommend watching alone with all your attention. You can easily dislike it.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
Great Adventure
This is a captivating adventure story centered on a young ape named Noa. The film cleverly draws inspiration from Caesar's legacy, hinting at Noa's potential for greatness. While the story is well-developed, it leaves room for further exploration in potential sequels.
Noa's inexperience shines through in the action sequences, showcasing his vulnerability and setting the stage for his future growth.
The supporting characters, Sylva and Proximus, are standouts with their bold personalities and strong vocals.
The movie's visual effects are top-notch, seamlessly blending with the live-action elements. The immersive Dolby Atmos sound design further complements the viewing experience.
Overall, Noa's Journey is a promising start that lays the foundation for a compelling series.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)
The franchise is still strong.
Craving a laugh-out-loud comedy brimming with action? Look no further! This film outshines its predecessors in the series with its side-splitting humor. Martin Lawrence takes center stage, unleashing his comedic genius and signature charm to deliver a performance guaranteed to tickle your funny bone.
The story might not be as emotionally complex or suspenseful as the third installment, but it remains captivating. It skillfully steers away from an overly dramatic plot, opting for a fast-paced and action-oriented narrative that keeps you glued to the screen.
The action sequences themselves deserve a special mention. The filmmakers incorporate innovative drone camera techniques and panning shots, resulting in a visually dynamic and immersive experience. Imagine exhilarating fight scenes filmed from unique angles, or breathtaking aerial shots that showcase the action's grand scale.
This movie is perfect for a fun night out with friends, especially if you're looking for a crowd-pleaser to enjoy with some beers. It delivers the perfect blend of humor, action, and entertainment value, making it a surefire hit for a group gathering.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
WITNESS THIS!!
George Miller delivers again! This Mad Max prequel surpasses the first with a perfect blend of brutal action, laugh-out-loud moments, and a deep dive into Furiosa's origin story.
Anya Taylor-Joy commands the screen, but Chris Hemsworth matches her intensity as the ruthless Dementus. Their performances are a must-see!
The stunt team deserves a standing ovation for their jaw-dropping work, seamlessly integrated with convincing effects that transport you directly into the gritty wasteland. Sure, there might be a few minor imperfections where the background meets the characters, but the film's so engrossing you'll barely notice.
This is a must-see for action fans and anyone who wants to experience a masterclass in world-building and character development.
Miller expands the Mad Max universe in fascinating ways, introducing new factions and power struggles that leave you hungry for more.
Presumed Innocent (2024)
Jake Gyllenhaal as always delivering his best 👌🏾
"Presumed Innocent" is a spellbinding legal thriller that reels you in with unexpected plot twists and powerful performances, especially Jake Gyllenhaal's portrayal of a prosecutor thrust into a shocking accusation. But this film transcends the courtroom. It weaves a complex tapestry of family dynamics, exploring the weight of choices and the consequences that ripple outward. If you crave suspenseful legal dramas with characters that linger long after the credits roll, "Presumed Innocent" is a must-watch. It delves into the human condition, making you question trust, loyalty, and the pursuit of truth."
Civil War (2024)
The awareness this movie brings.
This movie occupies a unique space in cinema. It blends entertainment with a powerful message, raising crucial awareness that left a lasting impact on me. We follow a group of intrepid military journalists as they delve into the heart of a fractured nation, determined to capture the raw truth. The exceptional acting delivers a masterclass in portraying the emotional toll of war.
One scene, in particular, etched itself into my memory. Jesse Plemons delivers a heart-stopping performance that will leave you desperately hoping to avoid a similar fate. His portrayal, while largely unrecognized, is a testament to his remarkable talent.
The film's brilliance lies in its refusal to spoon-feed the narrative. It throws you headfirst into the chaos, forcing you to piece together the bigger picture. This unconventional approach is a breath of fresh air for any true cinephile, making it a must-watch.
Road House (2024)
Beautiful fighting sequences
I went into this movie with a blank mind and with no expectation as to how it will turned up and I must say I really did enjoy this. Jake Gyllenhaal's portrayal is exceptional, bringing depth to his character in a movie that excels in its fighting sequences. The plot, while straightforward, is engaging, and the film shines in its character development. Kudos to the stunt team and choreographers whose skillful work elevates the action, creating thrilling and visually stunning fight scenes. This film is a testament to the art of action cinema and comes highly recommended for its entertainment value and the sheer spectacle of its choreography.
Shôgun (2024)
Beautiful and rich in Japanese Culture.
Shogun stands out as a rare gem in today's television landscape. Gone are the days of sprawling epics that delve deeply into a foreign culture. This series is a magnificent exception, weaving a masterful narrative rich in the tapestry of Japanese customs and traditions. It's not just about sword fights (though there are some!), but rather a captivating exploration of leadership, loyalty, and the intricate dance between those who rule and those who serve. Be prepared to be surprised by the lengths some will go to in the pursuit of power and the unwavering dedication of others. If you crave a show that goes beyond the clash of steel and offers a deeper, more nuanced story, then Shogun is a must-watch.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Bring On Part Three!!!
Dune: Part Two absolutely blew me away! For years, I thought adapting Frank Herbert's masterpiece was a fool's errand. But then Denis Villeneuve stepped in, and let me tell you, the man's a visionary. He's a master world-builder, and the one he's created for Dune is simply unparalleled. Every detail, from the harsh beauty of Arrakis to the intricate designs of the Fremen culture, feels meticulously crafted and utterly believable. The casting is spot-on too; each actor embodies their character perfectly, bringing depth and nuance to even the most minor roles. And let's not forget the action! The explosions are heart-stoppingly real, the fight choreography is top-notch, and every battle sequence is a visceral thrill ride. Dune: Part Two is a masterclass in filmmaking, a rich and immersive experience that leaves you wanting desperately for more. Part Three can't come soon enough!
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Why Marvel?
The movie sucks to be honest, bad plot.... infact the only thing I loved about this movie is Christian Bale as Gorr. His performance and look were so rich and incredible. That's all! The rest of the movie is Soo that I tried my possible best to sit through. I mean why would Marvel do something like this? Also what happened to the special effects team? The VFX was so poor in this movie; looked cartoonish and cheap, with un-laughable humor... Only humor I did enjoy aside Bale was the bleating and screaming from the Goats. This is a very forgettable movie and will definitely not add this to my library cuz I feel so ashamed of it. Production and directing were too poor and won't recommend this to anyone.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Wow! A Reference Material.
This is indeed a masterpiece movie, loved every bit of this movie from performances to stunts. Tom Cruise at his best as usual and with daring stunts. The plot felt a bit weak at the initial stages but picked up and with a perfect blend of an unseen action in any movie hence putting it in a reference position in my books. I highly recommend this 👌🏾. Wish there were more movies like this.
The Black Phone (2021)
Satisfying to watch.
Beautiful story line and performances. I did enjoy every bit of this. Has some eye teary part and some courageous moments. Did a good job of putting you in the kid shoes and fearing for them... You really get attached to the characters and it does make the movie a worthy watch.
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
Worst of them all 👎🏾
I think is the worst sequel of them all, the prequels were so much better than this. They had no unique story plot, characters were uninspiring and dialogues were too lame. Really disappointed in this. On the other side the CGIs were realistic and blended well with the environment.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Epic in all aspects 👌🏾
Noticed this has some bad reviews on here but seriously.... I got what I expected from this sequel. The plot made so much sense and will continue to make sense in upcoming phases of the marvel universe. Performances from Elizabeth Olsen were exceptional...far more than her Avengers Cameo. Also the CGIs and the ATMOS will make you appreciate every fight scene; very impactful and beautiful. This movie made so much sense to me and I think it will play a very vital role in subsequent movies.... they just used this to create an open end to begin and build other new franchises.
Father Stu (2022)
Touching & Moving.
Really enjoyed this one, was a bit slow but loved every moment. This 8s good enough to even make an u religious person think twice about a supernatural beings. Mark Wahlberg as usual was astounding in performance and dialogues... movie has it's funny moments and some scenes can put a tear in your eye. Highly recommend this one for some perspective.
Morbius (2022)
Beautiful plot with epic effects.
This is one movie I got tired of waiting for. Well it turned out to be really good and falls in my favorites now. The plot was very well written, with great performances. What really made me marvel were the special effects... They really paid attention to detail to represent it as accurate as possible; made me hungry for more fight scenes..... No spoilers, I highly recommend this.
The Bad Guys (2022)
This is unique.
One of the best animated movies I've enjoyed in a while. This hits different. Voice acting were great, plot was unique with amazing and unlikely characters... Family really enjoyed this one.
The Northman (2022)
Brutal but feels like a concert play.
I might have expected too much from this movie to get a little disappointed. Loved the timeline, loved the plot, loved the action but hated the acting and some dialogues.... They felt amateur and seemed like they over did it for it to lack the natural feeling and response. Some dialogues were never meant to be said cuz of how childish they felt.... Nonetheless the movie has some beautiful scenes and portrays a real Norse folklore.
The Lost City (2022)
Full of laughter 🤣
Lovely movie, made me feel relaxed and stress free a bit. Has tons of funny jokes and dialogues, great performances from Bullock and Tatum and whole plot was just funny.... Highly recommended for a good laugh.
Uncharted (2022)
None seen before stunts.
This movie is fun to watch, few action and a little weak plot but fun to watch. Strong not seen before action and stunts. Typical raiding and the hunt for big gold stash. Tom Holland is growing up to be on my list of favorite characters of all time on which I already have Mark Whalberg; their performances and team work were exceptional. Some characters like Antonio Bandaras weren't even supposed to be in the movie cuz of a none important role. I hope they continue to build a franchise from this and can't wait for a sequel. You hardly see good movies like this.
Ambulance (2022)
Fast paced action from start to finish.
Typical Michael Bay movie, full of action, wicked drone shots and camera pannings, explosions but a weak story. The plot is easy to forget but the action sequences are not. Not to forget the editing and cut scenes felt weird early on in the movie though with Wonderful performances from Jake and Abdul, you will be hooked to your seat till end. Recommend this for some good time with the boys.
X (2022)
Unique from the rest.
Had no expectations, went in blind and was blown away. This is different from what we have. Lots of gnashing and cringing moments... Nice performances and the effects were on point. I highly recommend this.... brings some fresh coating to the horror genre.
The Batman (2022)
Too slow with too much unnesessary voice whispering.
Too slow to maintain any excitement in me.... it's a good movie all right, great performance and dark looks from Robert Pattinson, few great action sequences and loved the whole idea of the dark theme but.....
To much voice whispering made everything too unrealistic, some unnecessary slow-mos and lack of some good action for more than half of the movie. This made me watch the movie in two halves cuz I got too tired and bored at some point. Story plot wasn't strong enough to make me excited and go through the movie in one sitting but that's just me.
The Outfit (2022)
Slow but Solid.
Beautiful plot with some brilliant performances for the cast especially from Mark Rylance; just loved his composure and the narration. Movie is a bit slow but with interesting turns every now and then... makes it hard to ignore. Highly recommend this.
The Contractor (2022)
The kinda Tactical Movies I love to see.
Solid Tactical Movie, these are the kinda movies I love, very realistic.... great dialogues, beautiful performances from all actors and a wonderful story. Will say it has some great directing too. Highly recommend this with the boys and hope to see more movies like this 👌🏾
