Marvel's new TV series Inhumans is shooting right now in Hawaii... but, of course, the super-powered race have already been in Agents of SHIELD for a while.

So will there be any crossover between the two shows? Don't count on it – SHIELD co-creator Jed Whedon has hinted that the series will be kept separate, at least at first.

"Without being able to say anything really about that show, it will have its own world, just as we tried to start our own world," he told press including Digital Spy. "Whether or not there's a crossover, we will see."

Both shows are part of Marvel's shared Cinematic Universe - also incorporating the various movies and known as the MCU. But with Inhumans following the Inhuman Royal Family, it'll chart a very different path to stories on Agents of SHIELD.

"Everything is connected, and that's fun to play with," Whedon said. "But the point of our show is to be our show, and we want our fans to be rewarded for watching it without having to watch everything else.

"But we also want there to be a bigger reward for people who watch all of them, so that they'll start to see that there's lines connecting it. It's more fun for people who are playing the whole game, but if you don't, you'll still have a great rollercoaster ride."

Inhumans will star Anson Mount as Black Bolt, the mute King, with Serinda Swan as his queen Medusa. Lost's Ken Leung and Game of Thrones veteran Iwan Rheon will also star.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Sunday nights at 9pm on E4 in the UK.
