To visit Rio Grande Pyramid's Window, follow the route you ascended back down to the Opal Lake Trail. Follow the trail for about 0.2 mile before leaving it to cross the open terrain. Head south, then southwest around a rounded buttress. Continue southwest toward the Window over flat ground.
Jul 31, 2021 · The Weminuche Trail leads up to Weminuche Pass after 5.5 miles. This trail provides access and connections to reach the iconic Rio Grande Pyramid and the Continental Divide Trail. However, if you are looking for a shorter excursion and a way to explore the Rio Grande Reservoir, then hiking the first part of the Weminuche Trail is a good option.
The lack of snow was odd, but we took advantage of it and backpacked into the Rincon La Vaca drainage. From high camp we made a loop over UN 13017, "Window Peak", Rio Grande Pyramid, UN 13278 & UN 13261. Long day in a remote, magical kind of place. 1/19/18 - Solo hike up the standard route.

It’s one of the more secluded national forests in the state and is located near Pagosa Springs and the town of Creede. With so much uncrowded space, you’ll be able to find sought-after solitude within the San Juan, La Garita, and Sangre De Cristo Ranges.
