Conan tried to rescue her but he failed and ended up back on Remnant Island. He went back to the hut to check if his Grandpa was alright from the missile blast. Conan finds him laying down on his bed. He tells Conan that he's dying. Conan didn't want to except that to be true, but his Grandfather was serious about it. Before he pass on, he tells Conan the day he and his 9 friends ended up on this island in the first place. Back in July 3, 2008 he and his companions tried to escape from the aftermath by flying to space. But their space shuttle didn't make it out of orbit and crash landed on the island they're stand on right now. The world changed before their eyes. Food became scarce and they await death to come. But hope came when Water was found deep in the wreckage of the shuttle. And soon nature came back, with plenty of fish and birds to catch and eat. The island became their new home. When Conan was born he was like a son to everyone else. Unfortunitly years later one companion died after another. Conan's Grandfather is the last one of the crew. He tells Conan that he must survive on his own from now on. And his destiny is to find new friends to be with and help out the survival of humanity. Conan must leave the island in order to save Lana.
