The Dating Playbook

I thoroughly enjoyed The Boyfriend Project when it was released, so I was equally as excited to read The Dating Playbook and I was definitely not disappointed. It was great! Taylor Powell is working hard to make her fitness business a success, but recently she's not getting the clients she had hoped for and she's further in debt than ever. Taylor is going to fight to make this business work, as she's independent, driven and strong, but a stroke of luck and help certainly wouldn't be turned down at this point! Jamar Dixon is hoping he can find the perfect trainer to help him get back to the NFL after he had a devastating knee injury. Most everyone is saying he doesn't have a prayer of getting back into the league, but he still believes he's got what it takes. This charismatic athlete is going to exhaust every effort to get his dream back. Jamar attends a class that Taylor puts on in the park and he finally convinces her to train him. He is the answer to her money problems at that moment and she's thinking she'll get some great PR out of it, but then she learns Jamar wants to keep their working together quiet. Well, there goes that! When they end up encountering a reporter who guesses their connection, Taylor blurts out their dating and you can guess where things go from there! Will the fake relationship lead to something real? Jamar and Taylor both have baggage and are dealing with a lot and I liked how their situations were dealt with in the book. We learned about both characters, how they were feeling and the pain they had both endured while going through their different things. I thought the two complimented one another well and this was a smart, enjoyable romance. I'm excited to get London's story next!

I loved this book. The banter, the romance, and the fact that it's Black Love. I honestly couldn't put it down, every page had my attention. Great story, great romance! The bookcover looks amazing too.

Both Taylor and Jamal are dealing with emotional scars from the past that get in the way of making good choices in the present. I love how Taylor stands up to Jamal when she disagrees with his unhealthy decisions. If you loved THE BOYFRIEND PROJECT, you’ll definitely want to read this book!
