In this searing episode of No Filter, Dassi Erlich talks to Mia Freedman about growing up in an extreme ultra-Orthodox religious community in Melbourne and the abuse she suffered at the hands of her school principal, Malka Leifer.
Dassi shares the story of how she fought back against both Leifer and the community that failed to protect her - a battle that took far too long. It is a story of deep betrayal and abuse, but also a story of strength, hope, and the incredible will of the human spirit.
You can find Dassi’s book, In Bad Faith, here.

If you're a girl or a woman who doesn't think she wants to have kids - where are your role models for what your life could look like?
Portrayals of happy mums are everywhere, but rarely do we see women who choose not to have children shown in a positive light.
Ten years ago, journalist and editor Farrah Storr decided to be a non-parent. In the years since that decision, she has learned so much about the many ways a woman can live a rich, connected and fulfilling life without having children. And lucky for us, she’s turned her observations into a list of aha moments and beautiful surprises that we can all learn from, whether we are parents or non-parents, and she shares them with Mia Freedman in this episode of No Filter.
You can read Farrah’s substack “Things Worth Knowing” here.
And you can follow her on Instagram here.

Siobhan TM ,

Dassi Erlich.

What a woman - brave, strong, awesome, a fighter, despite the enormous set backs and articulate to name a few! Mia conducted this interview with thoughtfulness and great sensitivity.

fffpypypy ,

Unbelievably raw

I have just finished listening to both parts of the Dassi Erlich interview and am left feeling completely overwhelmed. Dassi’s story is incredible and her and her sisters’ resilience and bravery unparalleled. I loved listening to Mia guide her with such sensitivity and compassion through a story which must be so difficult to revisit.

JoyCall ,

Loved the Marian Keyes ep!

What an inspirational woman Marian Keyes is. I think she used the word grateful 3 times and I lost count of how many times she used the word lucky to describe herself. I’m going to adopt these as my new mantras, and as she said, make a conscious decision to do so. Thank you for this interview!
