How Many Riders Use NJ Transit’s Hoboken Train Station?

HOBOKEN, NJ — The NJ Transit rail system is responsible for providing more than 300,000 passenger trips every weekday. And if you’re one of those commuters – depending on what station you use – the daily ride to work can get a little crowded.

Patch recently reached out to NJ Transit to see which of its train stations have the highest and lowest weekday ridership totals. A spokesperson provided the agency’s statistics for fiscal year 2017.

According to NJ Transit, its busiest station was New York Penn, where a staggering 93,305 average weekday boardings took place, followed by Newark Penn (27,695), Secaucus Junction (26,298), Hoboken (15,628) and Metropark (7,537).

The least-busy station on the weekdays was Mount Olive (16), followed by Mountain Lakes (17), Lebanon (21), Mount Tabor (30) and Peapack (36).
