Two members of the Taliban and two civilians were killed by gunmen in an attack in the eastern city of Jalalabad.
Two other civilians were wounded in the Saturday shooting, Mohammad Hanif, a local official told the Associated Press.
No one has taken responsibility for the shooting, though the city, and the surrounding Nangarhar province, have become a hotbed of Islamic State terrorism in recent weeks.
Last month three people were killed in a car bombing in Jalalabad which targeted Taliban vehicles. Isis-K later claimed responsibility.
The latest bombing underscores the growing conflict between the Taliban and their even more extreme rivals.
Taliban fighters raided an Islamic state hideout north in Kabul Friday, a government spokesman told the wire service.
