BMG RE-UPS ZOMBA’S JIVE IN U.S. FOR A YEAR

Britney’s back in the house.

Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) has worked a deal with Zomba Music Group to renew its distribution deal for the United States and Canada.

The deal calls for BMG to distribute Zomba’s Jive Records for one year, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Jive Records, home to Britney Spears, her boyfriend’s band, *NSYNC, and the Backstreet Boys, provides a big boost to BMG’s market share.

Losing the rights to distribute Jive music would be disastrous for BMG in an already less-than-stellar year.

Jive’s pop music acts allow BMG to own up to one-third of the U.S. market share.

Industry sources speculated that Clive Calder’s Zomba would take its distribution to the EMI Group, which already distributes Jive music in Latin America and parts of Europe.
