CHICAGO — Three Wildcats were drafted in the 2019 NWSL College Draft on Thursday afternoon, including a pair by the nearby Chicago Red Stars.

Kayla Sharples (Chicago Red Stars), Marisa Viggiano (Orlando Pride), and Hannah Davison (Chicago Red Stars) were all selected into the National Women's Soccer League. Both Sharples and Davison — who are from the Chicago suburbs — were drafted by their home-town club.

Sharples was drafted with the eighth pick of the third round, Viggiano was picked with the third selection of the fourth round, and Davison was selected with the sixth pick of the fourth round.

Northwestern's three selections were tied for the most from any school — and the most of any Big Ten program — in the four-round draft.

Sharples rounded out her time at Northwestern with a total of nine goals — six of which were game-winners — and five assists. Of the 87 games she played in four years, Sharples started every single one; her 86-game streak ranks at the second longest in the program's history. In addition to helping deliver 47 shutouts for the Wildcats, Sharples secured a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Third Team roster twice in her collegiate career.

Viggiano ended her collegiate career with 20 career assists, tied for the second-most in program history, and five goals, including a game-winning goal in 2018. Viggiano started in all 85 of her appearances for the Wildcats, holding the third-longest streak in program history with 83-consecutive starts. Viggiano has also earned numerous honors in her time at Northwestern, including being named to the First Team All-Big Ten.

Davison finished her collegiate career with 73 starts in a row, one of the longest streaks in Northwestern history. Out of the 80 games she appeared in, Davison recorded 78 starts, contributed to 47 shutouts, scored a career total of four goals, and added two assists for the Wildcats.
