Police Thursday were seeking information on vandalism that occurred at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach.

Manhattan Beach Police Department officers responded Sunday to the church at 1431 Deegan Place on reports of vandalism and observed the words “The world will have no rest until the last king is hanged with the guts of the last priest,” along with a circular anarchy symbol sprayed in red paint on an exterior wall, according to a department statement.

The officers also found a phrase — “American Martyrs Murders” with the word “Martyrs” crossed out — painted in red on the north side of the church.

Investigators reviewed the church’s security footage and discovered that two suspects approached the church about midnight the previous night and appeared “to discharge an aerosol can believed to be spray paint” before they fled the area, according to police.

No suspect description was provided.

An investigation into the vandalism is ongoing and anyone with information was asked to contact the Manhattan Beach Police Department Tip Line at 310-802-5171.
