    Collection contains records of the American Physical Society (APS) Southeastern Section (SESAPS), including: correspondence and printed email; memoranda; meeting organizing and session materials; constitution and bylaws; minutes; executive committee documents; nominations, ballots and award committee materials; medals and certificates; historical essays; records and reports of the Treasurer (1940-2003); records and reports of Secretary Stanley Dean; and miscellaneous Treasurer's records such as old rolls, receipts, software and data discs and other miscellaneous items. The collection also includes the papers of Chairman Ronald E. Mickens, documenting the period during which he served as Vice-Chair, Program Chair/Coordinator, Chair and Immediate Past Chair of the Section.
    Biographical / Historical Note: 
    First organized in 1935 in Decatur, Georgia as the Southeastern Association of Physicists, renamed the Southeastern Society of Physicists in 1936, the group affiliated with the American Physical Society (APS) as the Southeastern Section of the APS (SESAPS) in 1937. Its objective is the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics within the Southeastern region of the United States, including the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
